Where is Kyle Trask ranked in this year's draft? He's looked good tonight.

I haven't watched much college football this year. Tonight is the first time I've seen Kyle Trask play. Check out his stat line 26-40 3TDs with no INTs. He helped the Gators put up 46 points on Alabama tonight in a hard fought game they could have won had the defense just played a little bit better in the first half (they have up 35 points) We all know Trevor is going #1. But how are the other QBs ranked?

Justin Fields was considered the #2 at the start of the season. But I think you could make a strong case for Mac Jones and/or Kyle Trask now. Based on tonight's performance I wouldn't be disappointed at all if we grabbed Trask, which could happen since we're picking inside the top 10 this year. I'm sure most of you on this board have followed him more than me. Do you think he's legit?

He’s late first or early second. Jones and Trask should not leapfrog Fields to be the second QB off the board.

I haven't seen Fields play at all this season so I can't give any assessment on him.  I assume he'd be the 2nd QB off the board (prior to our pick). If he's gone before  we are on the clock could you see us taking Trask?

Not at our current slot of 4. I could see us trading back into the end of the first to get him or taking him if he is still available in the second. The issue people have with him is that he lacks elite velocity. His arm is just average. He also cant run like Lawrence, Fields, Lance or Wilson. People believe to be a high pick you have to be elite in something. I think Trask is the best QB in college football this season but he has limiting factors. You also can’t just think he will have NFL success because of his college success but if he goes to a team like the Steelers he’s in a really good position to succeed at the next level.

If we take Trask over Wilson my head will explode. After watching Fields today I’m tempted to say Wilson should be QB2 and we need to root for the Jags to take Fields at 2

I know it's wrong to stereotype people, but I'm leary of drafting ANY Ohio State QB high in the draft. I've been watching pro football since the late 70's, and I can't recall any QB from that school excelling in the NFL. As a GM, I'd trade down and pick up extra picks before I'd draft Fields.

Ok, I'm ready for you guys to go off on me now :fear:

That’s what I’m saying. I’m almost glad we’re at 4 instead of 2 (assuming it holds) because I think we get the better QB in Wilson

What scares people about Ohio State quarterbacks is the same thing that scares them about Alabama quarterbacks. It's the question of "Sre they really that good, or are they just playing on a team that's head and shoulders above everyone else?"

Troy Smith probably didn't do Ohio State any favors on that front.

I'm so out of the loop this season (hectic life, Covid-19, etc) that I don't even know who "Wilson" is.

Jordan Love but less physically gifted. Strong arm, but not as strong as Love. Good legs but not as fast as Love. Neither one plays great competition so it’s hard to project. A team like the Packers could afford a pick like that because he can sit for years.

I'm of the thought that if you aren't comfortable drafting a guy at 4 but feel better drafting him later in the 1st or early 2nd, especially at QB, then you don't take that guy at all.  If you feel he's your guy, you would take him as early as you can, and if you're not sure he's that guy, you just don't take him.  Guys like Trask, Wilson, and Jones seem like those type of guys to me, which is what makes me rather avoid them.

    • fuging Christ dude this isnt hard.  Like at all.  I get you simping for this poo team is your thing but sometimes you have to look at reality.   Even removing his bum knee from the equation, none of this made sense.  He is 31.  He has been paid handsomely for his service here.  He was currently under contract for this season.  Why in the holy fug did anything have to be done 2 weeks before the season started.   The people for this move, in this thread are saying A) He deserved it (this is the nfl it doesnt work like that  B) It frees up cap space (then why in the fug didnt we do this in Feb or C) You logic (We are getting a deal at 53 million guaranteed for the next 3 years.   You realize with this deal we cannot cut or trade his ass for 3 years.  You understand this right?   So in my opinion we should have let this ride into the offseason and go from there, what he is going to threaten to walk, big fuging deal he would be 32 on a chronically bad knee, what other moronic franchise is going to give him 40 million up front?  It wasnt going to happen.   And you are acting like its impossible to replace a 32 year old RT with a bum knee.  Just go and draft someone, move Icky to RT.  There are tons of options instead of extending this dude 2 weeks before the fuging season.  The truth is Morgan and the shitheads in the FO fell for this dudes crying act and got all sentimental and shelled out another ext.  We are a poverty ass franchise that doesnt act professionally
    • Amazing what the prospect of being traded to Carolina will do for contract negotiations.
    • 5 Im glad football is back but after the embarrassment that was the browns pre season game where our starting D made Sanders look like a serviceable NFL QB, I lost hope again for a successful Panthers campaign this year.  I do hope I’m wrong!
