How close did the Panthers come to getting Stafford? Dang close.

I could be wrong here. But I don’t think Hurney was the one that wanted Teddy as much as the coaching staff did. Hurney is gone because he’s trash and he’s always been trash.

I believe Hurney was totally sold and it sounds like Brady was too.  But I don't think that Rhule was ever the one directing that signing (and Brady wouldn't have been for that matter).

I thought I read somewhere during the later half of the season it was really Hurney pushing hard for Teddy and Brady vouched for him but I may be wrong too.

I hope Rhule does not have full or most personnel control. That is always a recipe for disaster IMO.

There’s plenty of white QBs you can name that are sorry and have received fairly decent size contracts. You can’t name any black QBs that are legit sorry and have been paid handsomely to sit on the bench.

JaMarcus Russell, Akili Smith, Teddy Bridgewater.

Those are just the ones I pulled out of my ass. I can keep going.

Look, you obviously have an issue with the past. Totally understand that. That isn't the present and future, however.

Sooooo....most of those big backup contracts are for either starting spots or to compete to be a starter. That is how Foles and Glennon end up with big contracts riding the pine.

Look, I gave you the data and you don't like it. That isn't something I can fix.

Your data is wrong.

Find the black guy

Guys that ain’t played this decade and Teddy which was my point in the beginning.

Without looking at the stats and just considering names and contracts I remember my gut feeling is your point is correct and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was.  I don't want to land this thread in a different forum with my thoughts on it but I suspect this is not a trend exclusive to football.....

But, I don't think Cam is a strong candidate to make that argument with because of the various other circumstances and injury concerns.

Would be curious to see more numbers on this topic (tbh it reminds me of why the NFL has stated to strongly emphasize developing minority talent in coaching staffs too), but that might derail the thread. Perhaps a new thread ton consider.

Marty had a vested interest in the team winning sooner rather than later, and he believed Bridgewater was someone who could help them do that.

Wrong on all sides...

Soooo....we just keep moving the bar? Didn't you say "ever?" Is ever just whenever you deem it is?

Look, this is your hill you want to die on, so I can't fix that. It is just also an argument that isn't holding much weight factually.

Totally get the disgust with the past but your argument about Teddy is not factual.

I don’t argue with non blacks about the plights of blacks so you can move on.

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
