"It is unusual to have 3 players of their magnitude out at the same time, but it's the time of the year when teams are dealing with injuries.  Don't feel sorry for yourself, this happens to everyone, try to find a way back."

Asked about trade deadline and standing pat.

"with Cody and Bismack being free agents, we don't know if they will be back, we looked at a trade but didn't find anything we thought was fair.  We're going to make the best of the season, develop our players."

how to you build with the 3rd youngest team in the NBA.  Around Melo?

"Rozier doesn't get as much credit as he deserves.  He's having a great year.  With Gordon and Melo we feel they are set.  at the 4 position we like our young players, and we'll continue to focus and develop them.  We didn't think Melo would be this good, so we're ahead of where we thought. "

Rozier coming up for a new contract.

"He's approaching a bigger deal.   He's been a consummate professional."

Hornets are 1 of about 6 teams with salary cap going into the next season...how does that affect you.

"With Gordon coming into Charlotte we didn't expect that but we had cap room.  It's unusual for a small market team to get a player like that, so it's important to have cap room.  Maybe someone will say I want to come play with our young players."

"If we lose Biz or Cody maybe we get another big.  It's too early to say."

Thanks for transcribing this.

I'm glad they didn't make a trade they weren't crazy about. In years past, that is something the Hornets would have done.

I'm torn on giving Rozier a new contract. He has played well enough to earn one, but on the other hand, the team is still a ways off before they are a consistent winner. It might be best to trade him while he has a high value and keep rebuilding while Ball, Washington, and Bridges are still developing.

Rozier is young.

And will want a big contract too. Mitch might prefer to give a long term extension to Monk or Graham, which should be cheaper, and using the leftover cap space for other players.

Graham isn't on the same level as Rozier.

Monk has to prove he can be starter.

Sign Rozier long-term.. it ain't even a question.. we have had to deal with Kemba and clowns for so long and can't even remember what it's like to have 2 good players - let alone 3 with Ball & Hayward!!
it's sad as a franchise, that the first thought when a player is doing well, is to trade him and get something else.. it's like players having a wide open layup but kick it out to the 3pt line.. ugh..

the core of Ball, Terry and Hayward is super solid.. finding a center and figuring out if PJ has reached his max-potential are key.. if we can keep Graham and Monk on team friendly deals that don't break the bank - it's a no brainer as well.. they can get hot in an instant and light it up from outside - but are streaky and might go 1-6 some nights..

    • Don’t get me wrong, I love Koochie. I think he could be a star. But I’m not convinced Rod trusts him. And I realize my post was confusing. I meant based on the reports of swapping Necas for Ullmark or another goalie. If we’re going to trade for a goalie I would rather use draft picks instead of lowering the value of Necas.
    • You can make a decent case that most of the starters are at-least average. But depth-wise, its awful, maybe the worst in the NFL.  The only reason they could be a playoff team, is the awful NFC south and its collection of bad QBs and coaching staffs. That changed big time when cousins and Morris arrived to ATL. Now it would take a setback to cousins, in which he currently ready to play given all the stem cells and peptides stuff he has.  In past years there was always some elite talent leftd on the 7 win rosters. Like many know theres just dbrown and a huge ? in horn. If hunt was elite, phins would have tagged him. There's no Thomas Davis, Luke, Cam, Olsen, peppers, kalil, beason, gross, Jenkins, Smitty etc on the team. Brown is great and all, but sacks and pressure wise, he's not game changing. Panthers lack difference makers, young ones. You could make a weak case for clowney, but that ravens D is stacked.  Us fans just need to hope Dan Morgan can collect more young difference maker in the next 2-3 years. If Bryce isn't that guy, 4 years before this team can sniff the playoffs.  Honestly the panthers are due some luck as well.
    • The fact that Smitty TD and all of our other black players love JR, it was probably another made up cancel culture BS to go along with the times.
