That only makes the scrutiny more intense for rookie defensive end Everette Brown(notes). Because of him, the Panthers don’t have a first-round draft pick next spring.

“The move that they made during the draft was a big move,” Brown acknowledged this week.

Coming off a 12-4 season, the Panthers spent the offseason in a win-now mode. They returned all but one starter, then on draft day traded next year’s first-round pick to San Francisco for the 49ers’ second-round choice.

I dont blame Brown. Its not his fault that the panthers were dumb enough to give up a 1st for him. No one should hate him for that. It still doesnt change the fact that he wasnt worth what we gave up for him.

a lot of it has to do with the fact that Hurney and Fox believe that if it works once it will work all the time, kinda like a draw on 3rd and long, since Otah worked out then it should work every year right??

Peppers situation is up in the air next year. We very well could be without him. We needed a DE to help fill the void for next year. Hell be a starter.

True story. 2 years in a row the Panthers front office has dumped its 1st round picks. Thats the sign of a cheap organization that doesnt want to pay top dollar to a player it has to develop. I wouldnt be shocked if they traded this year's 1st rounder too. So much money on this team is tied up into 3-4 players, would it really surprise people if the front office is happy not to have any 1st round picks?
