would you trade jonathan stewart...

Why in the hell would Washingon trade their starting QB and a second rounder for Stewart when they could just take a RB in the first or second round next year?
That's what makes any thread about trading a RB for a QB flat out stupid. The value of a good RB does not equal the value of a QB. Besides, campbell holds onto the ball way to long.

This thread is nothing more than a Jonathan Stewart sneak diss thread. Fiz knows Campbell is a FA this offseason. What I want to know is what do people see in Campbell? Id be for bringing him in for a year as a "1 year stopgap" a la Peete, but long term answer? Sorry, not seeing it with him.

I think you bring in Campbell as a stopgap for 1, 2 or even 3 seasons if needed. I dont want the Panthers trading Smith or Stewart to get back into Rd 1. They should bring in Campbell, draft a QB in Rd 2, then even draft another QB in 2011 if you like one that year.

With Campbell as the Panthers QB they easily have 3-4 more wins this season. He would do well here, while the team grooms a young future replacement. Something this franchise should have been doing already!!! Escp when they saw a season lost when Jake got hurt a couple of years ago.

Fiz would never do that.

Getting Campbell for a one year stop gap means you'll have something ready for 2011. We have nothing yet to go to.

But me thinks no way you'd get Campbell for one year. Whoever signs him will be commiting to multi years and lots of future cap dollars. Campbell=Panthers putting the teams future success on his shoulders for several years.

Time & time again, we should not trade Stewart. Look how we did with him scoring our only TD with how DeAngelo was out yesterday. You honestly could see Sutton or Goodson doing better if either were the starter in that game if Stewart was out like DeAngelo??

And Campbell? No way in hell are the Redskins going to get rid of him. I prefer Moore here than him.

Campbell is a free agent so it is not up to the Skins, unless they franchise him and there is no way that is happening. So it is up to Campbell and with the circus over in DC he just might want to move on.

But knowing how the Redskins love to pay too much (They pay Haynesworth $100 millions, you know. :P), I won't be surprise if they give him a lot & he will stay. I just have a feeling that will happend.

    • I'd like to see the gameday chats come back, especially if you can get it mobile compatible and like those support chats that stay on the screen even when you move around the site. We could use them during CLTFC and Hornets games now too.
    • There's a lot of truth here, but at the same time, that one year of production we might be paying for is actually paying for a development arc. And a lot of players have those. QB is the most complicated position in sports, hands down.  I'm not saying Bryce will make it past the hump this year, the odds are stacked against him just like any QB in the league that isn't already considered an elite player (and there are only about 5-8 of those at most). Arcs happen, and slow arcs happen, too. Sam Darnold seemed a wash up for the Jets and a horrible mistake. He was better with us, but still couldn't carry a bad team on his shoulders (or bad coaching). He went to Minnesota and got a shot under better coaching with more mature eyes to see the field. Something sparked and then he took his team to the Super Bowl and brought home a ring. Baker Mayfield had a similar arc, and may yet hit the big game. Hell, locally, Jake Delhomme had one. Or Bryce could flutter back down having already hit his peak. It happens. More often than any of us want to admit. We've paid for a full development arc for Bryce, but we've had it on rookie deal rates and that's been a savings that has let us build out the rest of the team, which was really needed. Maybe we end up diving back into the QB pool in the first round next season. Might be the guy, might not.  But he'll be set up with a better team that Bryce was when he started. Or maybe, just maybe, Bryce adds another seven TDs and loses four INTs on the season. Grabs three more wins and maybe a playoff win, maybe two. It's not completely impossible and that'd be great for the team and for him.  We're just going to have to tune in and see how it plays out. Probably won't be boring.
    • I am holding out hope for a miraculous run this season. But you know the narrative around him is peak delusional when the Panthers social team can post this without even a hint of irony. Four years and almost 50 games into his career he still looks like he's never set foot in the weight room. Really?
