Trade Delhomme

back to the Saints, so I can make him look like Johnny Unitas. I am the greatest QB coach/OC ever. Did mention I call my own plays. :D

Listen here fine young male, I am the ONLY coach around these parts.

With that said, we could trade Brees for Jake, Jake is past his prime and Brees is entering his own prime.

im with you on this one

I'm not.

All the stats in the world are meaningless if you don't win, and a lot of Brees yards this season have come because the team was playing from behind. Add in that I've seen nothing out of Brees to make me think he's the kind of winner in the playoffs that you need to be successful in the postseason. He might turnout to be someday, but I've seen nothing to show that yet.

what makes you think he can't win in the playoffs? Sure his record in the 4th quarter while playing from behind is horrible, but much of that can be attributed to the horrible defense the Saints play. He is miles ahead of Delhomme in almost every way. I don't dislike Delhomme, but anyone who thinks Jake is a better QB is delusional.

That's kind of a big deal, and it isn't all on the defense.

There's more to being a winning QB than pretty passes and good stats. If you doubt that, ask Cowboy fans (or Bronco fans for that matter).

A big part of my breakdown of Brees is that their one big playoff win with him owed a lot to the Eagles shooting themselves in the foot. Then when it came to the game against the Bears, Payton's game plan went away from the run (which was a Bears weakness at the game) and put the game in Brees hands. Needless to say, that didn't work.

I'll take ugly wins over losses with nice highlight reels any day.

Their are quarterbacks, coaches and teams that you can always count on to look really good in the regular season but not seal the deal in the playoffs. Such guys are annually getting awards and honors, but not rings.

Those aren't guys I want to follow.

I agree to a point. There are such things as intangibles, which Jake has oozing from his being. I'm a big Jake supporter, but to provide a bit of balance to the arguement, I have to agree that anyone who thinks Delhomme is better than Brees has lost their mind.

It takes 45 to win a game on Sunday, and last I checked, the Saints are 25th in scoring defense. The Saints are also 16 total points away from being 13-2 on the season. The 16 points represent the combined scoring differential in 5 of their losses. They gave up an average of 29 points per game in those losses.

To be consistent, one would have to blame Jake for the Giants loss, and the 300+ rushing yards allowed, to make a similar argument to yours, as it relates to Brees.

    • I think it's more related to the difference between proven talent and projected talent. Our proven talent is quite literally almost nonexistent. Our projected talent could be significantly more. Obviously, it remains to be seen how many DJ Moore's we get and how many TMJ's(not making this position specific, just giving examples of clear progression of careers and talent being realized versus not). This could be an exceptionally terrible, underwhelming, okay, fairly decent, surprisingly good, etc roster. All that has to play out on the field because our known entities in terms of above average caliber NFL players is paltry but most standards. All that digital bloviating to basically say, "Show me." As for Tepper, I genuinely don't think he has meddled that much less and I don't think he has stepped back. I think he just cleaned house of most of the people chirping about it internally while not making himself so publicly visible because he is very aware of the meme he has made himself and this franchise. IMO, he will continue to fug this franchise over because that is who he is as a person.
    • Glad im not watching...  guessing walker out too
    • Also Walker is a game time decision. He might not be able to play tonight.
