What are our chances if Williams, Moore start?

I've already told myself that I'm going to pick us if D. Will starts. We get a lot of other players back too, and with the current talk about Moore learning from mistakes already it seems like we stand a pretty good chance. Plus, Peppers is due up for another big game, especially after all the praise from the Patriots' organization.

I give us a 1:2 chance to bring back a win. Sure the coaching will be very stringent, but Moore can spread the ball around pretty well and our backs will be at full strength.

What say you?

We have a much better chance if D Will starts. I'm still not sold on Moore. Our QB's are just mediocre across the board. If Moore starts, the Patriots will blitz relentlessly. They don't care about allowing 150-200 yards of rushing, because it won't amount to anything if we can't throw. Several teams have proven that to us. Also remember that the Patriots are weak at LB. They'll take the young guys and just tell them to blitz as fast as possible rather than play with finese.

So watch for multiple versions of the Patriots blitz package.

I give ourselves a slim shot. It's up north in their stadium. Not good. The Patriots are desperate for a bounce-back game. Here roll the 5-7 Panthers..

The stars just aren't aligning for us on this one.

Jake was never really more than an avg QB. That is all Fox needs....and he has that with Moore. The 09 Jake wasn't average. I think w/ Williams the offense will be fine......I think the defense will win or lose this game. What and who they use to defend Welker and Moss will determine if this is a game or not.

You know what else worries me? The underneath routes that Welker will absolutely run. We saw Tampa take advantage of it a couple times. Those are the ones that worry me. You can make super time consuming drives with those plays and just deteriorate a defense. Patriots will aim for dink-and-dunk shots with ball control on offense and a strong, multiple-look blitz package on defense.

I think Delhomme was more than an average QB back in his good days. From 06 onwards he was everything mediocre. The best thing about him was his weird connection with Smitty and those big air balls. Alas, that was it.

You're kidding yourself if you think we have a chance of going into Foxboro with a backup quarterback and beating the Patriots.

Carolina is a better team using the backup. You are kidding yourself if you think the Suicide Bomber Jake Delhomme gives us a better chance in NE. At least we can run and hit an open Smitty w/ Moore.

Welker drives that offense...not Moss imo. The short stuff to Welker is something no team has an answer for really. Captain looks to be the best guy to contain him....but Welker won't be stopped.

The Patriots actually run a very predictable offense.....it is only about if you can stop it. There is a reason some very average teams have beaten them or hung with them this year imo.

When did I say we had a better chance with Jake? We wouldn't have a good chance even if we had a good QB. NE hasn't lost a home game all season. Expecting Matt Moore to put up points on them at home when nobody else could is just ridiculous.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
