Patriots question Panthers, not Moss

(By Charles Chandler, [email protected]) One day after beating Carolina on the field, the New England Patriots hurled some retaliatory jabs in the Panthers' direction Monday to defend star receiver Randy Moss.p/Carolina defensive backs Chris Gamble and Chris Harris made comments questioning his effort after Moss' uninspired performance in New England's 20-10 win against the Panthers on Sunday at Gillette Stadium.

"I have a lot of respect for Randy," Belichick said Monday. "I think he's one of our best players and I think if you watch other teams defend him and watch other teams play against him, they think the same way - other than these two guys from Carolina after they lost another game. I guess they don't think that way. They haven't won a lot of games, now."

For what it's worth, Cris Carter and Jerry Rice, two of the greatest receivers ever to play the game, said they were appalled at Randy's performance.

Win or loose, Moss got his ass shut down. Our defense should be able to talk because they have played well enough to win. The offense is what is tanking this team.
