While there might be few panic attacks within the Carolina fan base this week, the Panthers played like a rebuilding team with a rookie quarterback in his NFL debut.

The Falcons, in general, didn’t come off as a significantly more impressive team — they just simply didn’t make as many mistakes. Teams that turn the ball over three times don’t win games in the NFL. It’s really that simple.

An 0-3 turnover ratio is a recipe for disaster.

Young’s detractors will point to this game as proof that he was a poor pick. They’ll also point to the stat lines for fellow top quarterback picks, CJ Stroud of the Houston Texans and Anthony Richardson of the Indianapolis Colts, and laud their performances over Young, despite all three signal-callers losing their debuts.

But the reality is this is just one game. Young has shown the ability to bounce back from bad moments several times in college and this summer. His outlook, while at least temporarily shaded by this performance, is still pretty bright.

A lot of the miscues on Sunday were likely the result of a lack of live reps within a young crew. Several teams suffered similar fates in Week 1.

While the game looked bad on paper and in the moment, it was ultimately just a letdown, and not worthy of a total lambasting.

      I thought he was from watching him play and also doing his first HC job. I thought he was the real deal  Apparently what happened is Kraft committed to Mayo and I don’t remember the timeline exactly - but Vrabel was unemployed at the same time Belichick was unemployed. They both were fired after the 2023 season.  Kraft hired Mayo. Who was kind of an obvious disaster. He probably already had the deal in place but I will give Kraft credit for not sleeping. With Vrabel out there for 2025 he made the move he needed to make and if it hurt Mayo’s feelings then oh well.  I guess you can tell I am not fond of Kraft but that was a really savvy move. At his age, pretty good. Still has it.

      It’s going to feel like a home game for the bills. There are so many of their fans that live down here now, and many of them have never seen Allen play in person since their last visit was 8 years ago. It didn’t matter for the cowboys game, but it might here. I think we likely lose a close one. Probably a questionable flag or two that doesn’t go our way. X factor for Buffalo will be Kincaid and Knox. If we do win it’s because we get ahead and play keep away from Allen. FYI- I have many friends who are Bills fans that are fed up with Beane who we all revere and think is the one that got away. They feel like he was great to land Josh but has done a terrible job of building around him (especially at WR) and rely on him to become super man to win- sounds kind of familiar, like the last time we had a franchise QB.
