If Weis becomes the OC...

...then the natural next step in things would be to get a Weis pupil for quarterback.

Which of these choices would you prefer?

1) Make a trade for Brady Quinn (difficult, but doable)

2) Make a trade to draft Jimmy Claussen (very difficult, but still probably doable)

3) Let Weis coach up a re-signed Matt Moore or Josh McCown

Yes, there is also the option of getting an outside QB, but for the purposes of this discussion, I'm limiting the choices to the options shown.

As a side note, my current thought on Matt Moore is to sign him to a contract similar to the one Delhomme signed when he first came here (2 years, 4 million) and let him compete. If he wins the job or shows he can contribute, good. If not, you aren't out much.

Throw the first round tender at him. Nobody will jump him for that. If he shows something next year, talk longer term.

there's no real evidence that Weis would want to go get Quinn or Clawson more than he'd want to hand-pick someone new.

Granted. I'm just speculating.

Entirely possible that neither Fox nor Weis is coaching in Carolina next season.

But if they are, who do you want under center?

From what I have been seeing..Moore specialty is the deep ball..but he needs to work on the short stuff.

That's odd, considering everyone here says he has poo arm strength.

not disagreeing with you btw. It's nice that we have a quarterback that can move the chains. That short stuff? That's what the running game's for, right? :)

the best option rather than the guy who knows an offense. I can't say who that is really, that's not the point. Fit is important, just not more important than quality. It won't matter, Clawson won't be available and Quinn isn't worth it.

Fox is probably here. Weis is probably not. You don't fire Davidson to get Weis, since Weis is Davidson's guy. There's really no room for both, sadly.

    • I'd give Bryce until the trade deadline to prove he's the answer and if he's not I'm dumping him for whatever pick we can get and I'm riding with Dalton the rest of the way.  2 and a half years is enough time to determine if he can be the QB going forward so for Bryce he needs to come out over the next couple of weeks and show that. The other players in the locker room don't wanna waste another year of their careers waiting to see if you'll ever figure it out.  If you took a poll of the players in the locker room I'm sure they'd rather lose with a respected veteran Dalton who at least gives them some creditability versus losing with Bryce who the entire media will say was let down by his supporting cast when in reality it's Bryce's physical limitations that are holding this team back.
    • I agree that he should’ve never been the pick at 1. In my 44 years I’ve never seen a team invest that much in a QB who is my size. I’m not meant for the NFL and neither is he.    Accepting we can’t change the past, I think it’s the correct call to keep playing him hoping that he will prove us wrong. I think we were dumb not to draft a QB this past year and let him learn and compete but that’s our reality.    I’m hoping this is the last year with the BY experiment and he deliverers us 1. To the playoffs or 2. The number one pick and we draft a real QB.
    • In his first interview after the surgery he sounded absolutely miserable.  Man that must beat you down to have that done
