Hoov as tailback?

The Hoov deserved some love for all his blocking this year. So we gave him some love. Nothing wrong with that folks.

I have the same point of view.

I think folks tend to forget the "why" (Hoover's blocking) as to our above average backs and the yards they get. It was nice seeing Hoov do what he does best, pound it.

I'm actually hoping Goodson gets moved to receiver next year. I don't think he's cut out to be a running back at the pro level.

I was kinda saying this since we drafted him. He's a decent RB but he's an excellent receiver. His speed makes him very dangerous and his fumbling problem will be mitigated by playing receiver. Not only that but we are desperate for a deep threat and he could provide that.

Did anyone else notice we did line him up at WR a few times during the game against the Giants?

Does anyone have a vid clip of Hoover Trucking the defender? It was when Buck and Aikmen were talking about the FB as a dieing breed

His performance yesterday was so impressive I just might make a little highlight video. So far I have nothing to do tonight as most folk are not calling me back.

Of all the things I've seen this season. Hoover gaining 18 yards...from the RB position...against the giants...is the craziest thing I've seen. I had no idea the man still had that side of his game. He has many years left. I hope fiametta can fill his role.

Hoov earned those carries.....I was happy for him. He wants to be a RB but knows he is a FB. Glad a game brokedown for him to get some action. He does so much dirty work.....glad he got to what he loves for a change. Don't want to see it much ever again....but that was an ideal scenario.

Because Goodson's 0.4 yard runs were not cutting it

fixed, and on his one reception for 13 yards the announcers made the comment "past the first down marker before being touched" (because of good blocking by Moose and others). Maybe he'll eventually "get it" and learn the difference between running behind an nfl oline and a college one, but hey, time is $$$. Get to work 'son. If he stays at RB for this team, plays need to be designed specifically for him, like Reggie Bust or Percy Harvin. Establish him as the role player he is, not the pound it guy he isn't. I'm not opposed to moving him to WR permanently. For the record, Hoover had 9 carries, Goodson 5.

Hey, the Hoove was just getting plays at tailback to give Fiametta OJT/instantaneous feedback. It was just fullback training. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

    • Jake in his prime was a gutsy QB. But just like with even someone like Cam. Father time is undefeated. It's very unfortunate we have a guy who is only 24 years old that has an equivalent arm to that. Absolutely blows my mind that our brain trust lacked the basic common sense to value arm talent when making a massive trade with ramifications for years to come. Unforgivable incompetence.
    • Jake, to me, will always hold a special place in my heart.  I really feel like for his era, he deserved way more love than he got, and should’ve had more than his one Pro Bowl.  He was a gamer with an underrated rocket arm. but let me tell you, after his Tommy John surgery, when he came back, I can’t remember who it was against, but it think it was a division game, he threw a ball that was supposed to be a throw away, as I think he was under pressure, and that poo floated forever and died right at the boundary where a defender ran over and picked it off.  One of the worst throws I ever saw.  His arm just wasn’t the same after the injury and surgery.  All that to say, that’s what almost every Bryce throw to the sidelines looks like to me.
    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
