Moore than just a backup???

Outside of Peyton, there aren`t many that can carry the team without a fair amount of help.

Rookie to groom? All for it. Just not sure we`ll be in position to get one :(

Oh I agree. I dont expect Moore to win games for us. But there is still alot of question marks about Moore. Reason I want a good veteran. Rookie qb I wouldnt mind a 2nd or 3rd rounder depending on how many draft picks we have. Which I think we will get a few more this draft.

I like what Moore has done the past 4 games. What I like most is what he hasn't done, that's lose games for us. I think that is what causes most to want him to have the starting qb reps. in the off season and going into next season. He's done a good job in a short time starting, IMO

dan lefevour will be available. so will pat devlin, daryll clark, tim hiller....there are some decent project prospects out there this year that will be available throughout the draft.

He's AJ Feeley. He's a guy who can be a decent back up. But he's not a QB you build a franchise around. The Dolphins tried to do that with Feeley and that failed miserably. I hope the Panthers don't make the same mistake.

Not the same. Feely played in a very QB friendly system (the west coast) then moved to a conventional offense and couldn`t hack it. Moore isn`t changing systems.

(at least not yet)

The more I think about it, the more I want our next drafted QB to come at a time when we have a first round pick, and are prepared to use it.

(yeah...I know ) :(

And something else that can't be over looked is he has done it against playoff caliber teams. Playoff teams that have been playing for something.

Great point. Just another reason why starting QB should be his too lose and not earn, again.

"Vet backup" likely equals Delhomme or McCown if John Fox is still calling the shots.

From that pool, I`d take McCown. Frankly, I`d take McCown over most of the free agent market as it stands now (it`s crap).

But it isn`t my choice, is it?

I say McCown as well, because if Fox is still here and Matt Moore stumbles on the way to the huddle Fox will pull him and put Jake in, if Moore even makes it through training camp as starter.

Moore is going to stumble at some point. There`s no avoiding that. It`s inevitable. Heck, might even happen this Sunday.

The mistake would be to take that one game where he has a bad performance and conclude he`s worthless.

Every QB has those games. Even Peyton. You just have to know how to tell a bad game from a bad quarterback.

Lack of that particular skill has cost many a coach his job.

Yeah but it depends on how he bounces back from those games that matters. Thts what I want to see the most and how he handles it.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
