John Fox is too soft.

Is it just me or is John Fox too soft. He doesn't have the killer instinct needed to win super bowls. Once again we watch the Panthers jump out into a big lead and Fox shuts down the offense and watches the defense give the game away. Last week I watched the Patriots destroy the Cardinals in a near Blizzard. Despite the 40 point lead and heavy snow fall, Belichick was still throwing the ball deep downfield with a first year QB. He didn't have Cassell hand it off 3 times and punt and give Werner a chance to come back, he buried them until they rolled over and gave up. I guess that's why one guy has 3 rings while the other guy has none. Sure the Panthers are headed to the Playoffs this year but unless Fox changes his philosophy of settling for field goals and sitting on big leads, I can't see them winning it all.

He shut down the offense against the Giants in the second half also. I can't remember Steve Smith touching the ball after half time. Is Jake that bad that Fox won't let him throw the ball when the Panthers have a lead? Too afraid of an interception?

I wouldn't say soft..........but too conservative.......

Here is the deal......

We now have an offense that is running on all eight cylinders even with the O line issues on health....

So we have jumped out into a big lead in the last two games then.....and then like so many defensive minded conservative coaches do.....

.......we start playing not to lose the game......rather than playing to win the game.......with our offensive strategy.

So we go a number of 3 and out possesions and lo and behold the defense starts spending too much time on the field and they get worn out.........

Did you see the swiss cheese defense we had by overtime in the NY game?...........like late in the SB of 2004..........

If our offense game plan continues through the game like it starts out then we own the time of possession.......the defense can stay strong if the offensive is given the plays to execute all game.........

Ohhhh we do need to do something about a few positions in our secondary on defense.................it can be trouble with a passing QB.

    • Ppl want to trade Melo? Am I wrong for thinking that would be a bad idea?
    • Some of you act like one can't learn from experience over time. Just because you may not know what you're doing in 2018 doesn't mean that you don't know what you're doing in 2025. Frankly, you grow from experience, and success and excellence gives first-time applicants the hand probably 99.999% of the time.
    • It's an interesting topic of conversation as sports evolves. I think ultimately it would lead to a number of small market franchises folding though. Especially in the NBA where there are so many bad teams that have been bad for years and years in some cases already. But as it stands I think athlete pay draft or no draft aside has reached a point where we can and should realistically ask should they make that much compared to the average person. Now college athletes is a different conversation but even that reaches a breaking point. But we could go down the rabbit hole on this even further into overall entertainment and talk about actors making absurd sums too. In the end I think in sports the powers that be won't allow these changes to even be considered because it opens the door for so many other variables. But who knows how long sports like football will realistically be around after people like us pass on. We're only just now learning about things like CTE which the league and the sport in general will only be able to run away from for so long. As far as the NBA goes my understanding is viewership has been steadily going down for a number of reasons but one crucial aspect is key players missing so many games. The NBA has to figure that out regardless. Especially when considering fans who pay to see these athletes compete in person. But hey I guess let's just try to appreciate what we've got while it still exists in this form eh?
