QB Controversy in Philly?

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Knowing the Eagle fanbase, I have to wonder.

Realistically speaking, Vick completed one good pass on a play where the DB fell down. After that, not so hot. McNabb wasn't anything to write home about either, but at least he recovered from a very slow start to put up some decent stats (in fairness, he got lots of help from Ken Hamlin on the TD drive).

So here's the two parter:

One, is there going to be a QB controversy in Eagle land?

Two, should there be?

I doubt it. Talking heads may stir the pot, but Vick doesn't fit Andy Reid's pass heavy offense which relies on Quarterback accuracy, and that will never be Mike's strong suit. Don't be surprised to see Vick traded to a desperate team for a mid round draft pick.

There will be (and has been a QB controversy) but it is about Kolb not Vick.

QB was the least of the problems. Dallas has built a team that is far superior to the Eagles in so many ways. They are bigger, faster and can kill our QB without even having to blitz. Their O-line is big and out muscles our undersized D_line. Props to the Cowboys for building a very good football team.

Here is a great article on McNabb and the Eagles from Gary Cobb that is dead on.

I'd actually agree about Kolb, but I asked about Vick instead for two reasons.

1) I know how the Eagles fanbase can be

2) I know how the Vick worshippers think

Last night's results will likely make sense in the minds of those factions (whether they should or not).

Its widely accepted that Michael Vick will not be in Philly long, and given with what we've seen this season and his continued popularity and how bad QBing is in the NFL right now, he needs to be starting for another team next season.

QBing is bad in the NFL?

You do realize that the NFL had 10 QB's with 4,000 or more yards passing.

The bottom teams need help, but overall the NFL QB's are better than they have ever been, as a whole.

    • Was just explaining this to some dummy named Willy in another thread. I think he was just smoking’ too much cheese.  This has been going on for ages. Trent dilfer got all the ladies and threw just as many TDs as interceptions. This was the more violent era of football. The soft mfrs wanna see the passing TDs but the truth is that ain’t what ultimately wins football games. It’s a STRONG D, and an unstoppable run game, with some passes to keep the defense honest, if a for a TD great. in fact I would venture to say that the two panthers super bowls consisted of the same except cam threw more tds than interceptions and could run like Jamal Lewis and priest Holmes. its a tale as old as time. Something all ball knowers understand.
    • This team just traded a 2nd round pick for Bradley Chubbs. Edge, Miami Dolphins.
    • Ngl, as good as I felt about us after winning yesterday, when they showed the top NFC teams on SNF, I realized what a crazy year this is.  The NFC seems uncommonly top heavy.  As of today, we aren’t anywhere near playoff positioning, which at 5-4 seems very, very weird compared to most years.  I know things will shake out further as the season goes on and it likely won’t look the same, but I have the feeling it’s one of those years that you’ll need like 11 wins to get in as a wildcard. seems very like a very pantherish thing to rebound this year and that’s what it would take.
