Is C.J Wilson a Future Star?

I kind of thought that he could be a diamond in the rough when we first got him. He didn't do a ton, so I didn't know what the verdict was on him, and kind of forgot about him.

This excites me though because I liked him when we drafted him. If he does develop like they think he will, we may already have Lucas' replacement on the roster, and that is awesome.

I saw the thread title, and thought "This guy's on crack." Then I saw that monstercat started the thread, so I gave the thought some consideration but remained doubtful. Then I saw that MC was talking about an article from Gantt, so I figured there might be something there. After reading the article, I would love to see Wilson get a shot.

Good job, MC.

True. I really do hope CJ Wilson ends up to be good, Marshall already has proven he can start. Im just saying, not necessarily in this thread but I dont think alot of people appreciate Lucas and what he does.

I think Marshall is a good corner, but he doesn't match well at all with the bigger receivers that are typically on the outside. In my opinion Marshall's stock has gone down a little bit, he has been bailed out by bad throws and what not.

Hmmm...I guess I'm glad I didn't just use the title of the article as the thread title, as I usually do. I got people to think, which is rare for me.

BTW, for those that say they haven't seen C.J play...I'm pretty sure he played some safety in the Dallas game last year, and he might have got to play some defense in a couple of other games...I can't really remember. He definitely played some ST's last year.

    • I wonder if they'd consider trading Rasheed Walker to a team that needs tackle help but missed out in the draft?
    • LOL. This is such a Panthers fan take.  Anyone who falls to us must suck because some other team didn't take them before.  We got lucky with Lemon, Thieneman, and Freeling all falling to us (honestly any of the three is a A+) but the WR and S positions are much deeper than the LT position in this draft.  We got the LT w/ the most upside at 19.  Mauigoa played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the nfl.  Spano played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the NFL due to short arms.  Blake Miller played RT in college and is not as good as Freeling.  Proctor is a true LT but his ability to handle quick edge's worries me (see Icky).  Freeling is a true LT and a gifted pass protector.  Many think he has a very high ceiling and will benefit from not having to start right away.  This is how you build a franchise.
    • After watching Cam get killed for years behind a bad Oline and having to watch the 2021 and 2023 Olines I will never complain about this team putting resources into that spot.  We got a true LT who could really push Rasheed Walker for the day 1 job. Go back and watch Iceky's draft profile from 2022 and all the talk was Ickey would be an all-pro guard in a zone blocking scheme, but he could play LT in a gap power run scheme. That's why Ickey looked really good when Wilks took over and we just started running gap run plays and just mauled people up front but under Canales we've been more of a zone running team. Ickey can survive at LT with his pass blocking but his true strength will always be his ability to just move guys in the run game and that's a skill set that's better used at guard.  Take another OT later on day 3 to learn from Moton to take over RT in a couple of years and let Walker and Freeling battle it out for the day 1 LT job then next offseason trade one of Hunt of Lewis and let Ickey move inside to guard.
