Peppers contract Situation Discussion Thread (Dpanthers started it (^-^))

How is this all Hurney's fault? Granted he paid Gross, Jake, & Gamble a little more than they should have, but I blame more on Pep or at least his agent with demanding more than we could afford. It like he put a handcuffs on the team. Not to mention Pep haven't made up his mind before he signed the tender & that why we gave away our 2010 Draft 1st round pick to get Brown. If Pep already made up his mind before the Draft last year, we might not gotten Brown then. Franchising him again will make it hard for us to get some players in FA & Drafts. I just don't know if we can afford that. :(

This is Hurney's + Front Offices' faults respectively.

Peppers was just trying to get his, and the Panthers fell victim because they know they have no other player like Peppers on this roster.

Do you believe the Patriots would let Peppers hold them in cap hell? I think not.

Amazing these guys haven't been fired yet. Payed him all that money last year only to not speak to him the next offseason

Dont get me started on Jake

That.

If Peppers goes for free but Jake gets a "retirement go out the traditional way"

contract I hope Pep rips this team a new asshole.

Jerry Richardson is leading the charge amongst owners for the new CBA. He will tighten his financial belt in order to convince other owners to do the same. We will probably be one of the teams with the lowest payroll next season with no salary floor or cap. The Panthers will make ALOT of money next year saving money on lower wages. Good business from a financial standpoint. We may have even tagged Peppers last year in order to be able to cut that much from payroll this year.

    • My tailoring green idea was not for him to be the starter but to add some value beyond just a developmental quarterback I think size speed is something Bryce doesn't have he has those and would immediately feel the fourth and one package and possibly red zone and some power packages for us
    • Do you have against Willis I believe you're around when we have the draft with corral and Willis were on the board and me personally I was banging the table for Willis as early as round one but a lot of people thought corral was better but it's amazing with a little coaching and time can do with me I always go with potential and upside versus oh the guy just plays football you know sometimes that's not enough
    • I know or needs and this probably isn't with a lot of people want but if he's available at 19 I don't think you can discount that he would be the best player on the board I think with 43 speed he's as fast as leggette. 63240 something he would stretch the field  Strike fear over the middle of opposing linebackers and also probably cure our long time history of no serviceable tight end since Greg Olsen I think a lot of needs like tackle maybe linebacker could be filled and free agency to the point like they did last year where we fix a lot of this and draft the best player we can on the board.  After his combine and the numbers in the 43-in vertical I'm not sure that he will be available but if he is I bet that he's highly considered what say you
