I agree with many of the things said... but I have to add...threats are threats and never was any one of them even remotely acted upon! Easy to say from thousands of miles away...but like posted earlier...he threatened, but he always came back to the huddle and it never took long for most to figure out it was him!!!! His threats were also surrounded by very generous offerings at tailgates....weird combination!

1)Even if he did not follow through communicating threats is illegal in North Carolina (prob everywhere just know in NC for sure)

2)Threatening to hurt/kill someone is a VERY serious matter regardless of if you follow through. Would you threaten to kill someone?

Look I talked to Clifton less then 48 hrs before his suicide and I had missed calls from him less then 24 hrs before. I have told him everything I am posting. He was good to me but on the flip side very very sick even though he did not "follow through" to people that I, my wife & kids care for very much for and are very close therefor I can not defend those actions whatsoever.

Clifton was obviously a troubled individual in different ways... I never saw that side of him as some of you obviously did. My point in the other thread was well taken I think... that it was a place to mourn the passing of that individual, not discuss his downfalls and demons. This thread, on the other hand, is an appropriate place to discuss those things... obviously some people on the board had issues with some of the things he did and said over the years. Hopefully as Pstall said, we can all learn from this and be better people both on here and in real life.

come on JBro...we aren't gonna start talking about what's legal and what's not are we? And no, I'm not one to threaten people either...we've already established there was plenty of instability on his part. I was trying to make the point that there was never any actions taken is all.

Part I find weird is he was still on the huddle and he still attended the tailgates...and now, he hasn't even been laid to rest yet and people wanna start!

I have little to no personal involvement with posters on here outside of this format (to the point some folks don't believe I am who I say I am) so when stuff like this goes on I'm pretty much always out of the loop on it.

Obviously, in some cases, that's a good thing.

Serious to who? The person on the recieving end of a threat, sure. I can only imagine how terriying it must be to have some one threaten you on a message board. Women excluded, fellas ya need to grow a set. Out of the 100's or so threats I have recieved to my face, one was followed through on. They guys that like to mouth off are all mostly all mouth. They guys who are quiet are the ones to be concerned with.

But who are we to "discuss" a persons demons...If he was so bad why wait till now to say something.IMO

Yeah, maybe so... but as I said in one of the other threads... if someone had told me even two years ago that I would meet as many GOOD friends as I have on an internet message board, I probably would have laughed at them... I've really only been on here posting seriously for about two years, so I don't know a lot of the history of the board and who said what, when, etc. I'm just going by what I've seen while I have been on here and Electro was always nice to me... I met the guy in person and he seemed genuine... that's all I know.

I love the fact that I've met and made such good friends on here... some I've met in real life, some I haven't... yet.

This is what I was thinking. If these were just internet threats then I dont care about that.

I'm pretty sure, my statements in the other threads expressed my true feelings on the situation, even though I had never met the man...

That said, in some twisted form that I call my own sense of humor, I have been waiting for someone to jump at the chance to use this at some point in one of these threads...

:beatdeadhorse5:

I certainly hope you can all take that for what it is... twisted humor...

Again, I never knew the man and it was a very tragic situation on all fronts (one that made me even question my own reactions should I be faced with a similar situation), but from the sounds of it, electro himself might have even appreciated the humor in that...

It seems that this is a tense time for some, and that is completely understandable, but at some point, we all have to get past it and move on...

Sorry if some of you think I am more of an asshole now... I'm really not...

troubled is certainly a great word...and don't get me wrong, I'm very happy that he never followed through on any of his threats too...I'm just saying there was a trend of many threats made and zero threats followed through.

I wonder if he threatened the woman he was convicted of assaulting some years ago....

quit defending the guy. And if people dont like him being scrutinized then they shouldnt bring it up on a public interweb forum....all of it signs of the times i guess..

He was banned from tailgates for awhile and then one of his buddies sponsored one and he came and then just started coming.

SCPanther, they weren't just internet tough guy kind of threats. Calls, IMs, PMs.

Once on here he told of how a meter reader came to his house and he had his dog attack the guy and he actually fired a warning shot. People who speak seriously about their fire power aren't to be taken with the grain of salt.

Well, that's a personal choice I guess... I think you get my point though... this thread is a more appropriate place than his memorial thread to discuss this type of thing...

I'm of a mind that, even if I had a problem with someone... once they've passed, it's done... but some people like to talk stuff out, so be it...

    • I get it's subjective and I said "PFF rated him as" one of the top deep ball passers during that time, which is an accurate statement.  They are still a group of professionals that look at film and data in order to make their judgements/ratings.  These people whose data has been incorporated into a lot of teams' staffs view Bryce's deep throws as some of the best in the league during that stretch.  That tells me that he can probably throw a deep pass vs the Huddle's version of he is small and didn't do it his rookie year so he must not be able to.  That and literally seeing him do it just makes me feel he is more than capable of doing so.   Do you think PFF is skewing their opinion to prop up a QB in a bottom tier franchise?  It's just another group's opinion and I feel is pretty respected around the league currently.  It's not the gospel truth or anything.
    • I still remember how happy I was that gettlegut was not the GM once he picked Jones, that was a firing pick and well..... If not for the raiders drafting Clelin Ferrell, it was the biggest draft day mistake in the last 20 some years.
    • He had 251 passing yards. 3 passing touchdowns and 2 rushing touchdowns. All in all a very impressive game. Problem is I do not envision his rushing ability translating like that over the course of the upcoming season. Yeah it will be something to account for from time to time but one it's not sustainable and two you don't want to put his durability to the ultimate test against a motivated defender willing to take a penalty and a fine. And plus with our backfield. Two 1k yard rushers. That's what they're here for. Then we have a much improved WR room. That means Bryce has to elevate those passing numbers substantially. The fact of the matter is regardless of circumstances it did take him 23 games to surpass Kyle Allen's single season passing yardage from 13 games in 2020. And that is not a high bar by any means. Whatever QB tier Bryce ends up in from here amongst his peers this upcoming season when it's all said and done it will be with his arm.
