Personally the only guy I would like to see gone for picks is TD believe it or not. In this scheme the WLB is one of easiest positions to sub in and not miss a beat. Anderson could play for a few games and draft a guy like Washington (crazy good both coverage and run support) in the 2nd and let him take over around midseason.

Since he will be a RFA if things hold true and if we he were to get an offer with the 1st/3rd tender, I say let him go. Save money and I actually like Washington's potential more.

You don't trade away a guy in his prime to replace him with a rookie. Davis is thriving right now.

I love pie.

Consider this Anderson didn't start until week 12 against the Jets, a game in which he got 10 tackles. But in only 6 games amassed 49 tackles and a sack. The 6 games he started included a couple of the most dominating D performances we have had in a long time. Our D looked unbeatable at times. Anderson is not the same kind of athlete as TD but in this scheme he is fine.

If anyone considers trading any of our marquee players (Smith, Gross, Dwill, or Stewart) should consider this just as likely and in fact the most realistic and least damaging of any trade being discussed.

And yes you can replace him with a rookie. Just look at all of the rookie LB's from last year if you need proof. LB and RB are the 2 easiest positions to translate to from college.

We've got arguably the single best one-two punch at RB in the league, and a very effective weapon in that. And yet a significant portion of the fanbase (if you consider this board representative) really seems to want to cut the power of that weapon in half.

And please don't give me that we have enough depth to keep it going even with the loss of one of the top guys. There is no way anyone can reasonably suggest that any of the other combos (Williams-Goodson, Williams-Sutton, Stewart-Goodson, Stewart-Sutton) is anywhere even close to the quality of Williams-Stewart as a rushing tandem.

There are other teams that have put all their eggs in a single basket with "workhorse" backs, and it's been rough. These days, even when healthy, neither Adrian Peterson nor LaDainian Tomlinson is what they once were, and the decline has been quick (almost sudden). One of the prime reasons for that is their being used as the "workhorse" for their team rather than as part of a 'two-headed monster' like the Panthers and some other teams prefer.

Knowing that it tends to shorten the shelf-life of good runners, I can't understand why on earth people want us to switch to that model.

As far as using a high pick on a RB, no matter how high you go you're still trading a proven commodity for an unproven one.

      Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.

      Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.

      Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
