VS Cardinals:

Stomped em like an ant first time. You know they will gameplan on putting 8 in the box and 'watching' Smitty. More protection for Warner to burn us. What would you do as 'Fox' ?

Homerboy: ground and pound. They cant stop us no matter what. Put 8 in the box? No big deal - one tackle away from a TD.

VS Falcons

I seriously doubt the Falcons can beat Warner. If they do, it's fine - we will stomp the birds too.

The Falcons will be trying to put pressure on Jake to stop the deep fade to Smith.

Homerboy: Stop Turner. 8 in the box and make Ryan beat us. Mix up blitz packages and get to him.

Vs. Cardinals:

On defense, I'd start with several delayed blitzes, with Davis coming around from the blind side and Peppers pushing from the other. Play Lucas press on Boldin, Gamble off of Fitzgerald, and Godfrey cheating Boldin's routes. The hope is that 1.) Warner sees the pressure and fires early to Boldin, which results in a Godfrey INT, or 2.) Davis hits him from the backside and either sacks him or causes a fumble. On another 20% of the defensive plays I'd rush Peppers then have Brayton fall back into coverage over the RB. With some luck, any attempt at a dump off would end in either a short gain or an INT.

On offense, I would continue run the "Heavy" formation on runs. Their line is simply not big enough to hold against that: we will almost always end up in the secondary. On passing situations I'd do whatever I could to get a safety cheating to either side, then run a fade to either Muhammed or Smith as the case may be. Their corners simply cannot play one on one with either of them.

Vs. Falcons:

On defense, we should pull a page from our games against Vick, and have Davis "spy" their RBs. Gamble can shadow White, though he may get burned a bit, Godfrey can provide safety help. Peppers will have to take a few plays in coverage as well, rather than rushing the passer. Quite simply, Atlanta's ground game is designed almost totally on getting the RBs past the initial rush of linesmen, either through cutbacks or guard pulls. The entire running games depends on our blitzers running around the pocket and not containing the line of scrimmage. Therefore, coverage and gap control will be more important than brute force; we won't out-physical them, because they're not playing that style. They depend on misdirection.

On offense, we can continue to have success with the run, but will have to play a little more finesse than we're used to. They have the type of lineman that can hold up the middle quite well, but have problems getting outside. As much as possible, we should have Muhammed in motion to the running side of the play, with the tight end pulling out as well. In most cases, if the play gets blown up in the direction we intended to go, DeAngelo can cut it back and make them pay for committing to one side. They can not run sideline to sideline. Smith will probably be shadowed for much of the game, but on play action passes he should be able to turn on the afterburners for a sprint to the endzone on at least a few plays. Their corners cheat towards the line of scrimmage at times: take advantage of that.

I've seen too much of both QBs to think that either of them could not beat us if we do not respect their skills. Warner may be 37 but he has one of the fastest releases in football, and when he makes good decisions, they are really frickin' good.

Ryan may be a rookie, but he refuses to doubt himself or his abilities. Therefore, he's already mentally ahead of a lot of veteran QBs.

I can't believe how many of you guys do not think the Falcons capable of beating the Cards. In case you haven't checked, the Cardinals looked less than impressive in their last few games and finished 9-7 in one of this year's worst divisions.

The Falcons, on the other hand, finished only one game behind of us in one of the league's best divisions this year. And they are only getting better. They have a great running back going up against a 22nd ranked rush defense in Arizona, as well as a very good receiver in Roddie White.

I'm not saying they will win, but I'm just surprised at how many people are quick to count out a team that beat us 45-28.

We also beat them 24-9. And in truth the Falcons haven't looked like world beaters recently. In their last 6 games, they lost to Denver at home, gave up 400 yards passing to Drew Brees, and struggled against both the Vikes and the Rams.

But certainly the Falcons are capable of beating the Cardinals. In fact, I think they will. But I think to many in the media are overlooking the Cardinals because of how they have played recently. The Cards have one of the best passing attacks in the game, and the Falcons have one of the worst pass defenses in the game. And the falcons have struggled when they played strong passing attacks. Their last two losses are to teams that pass the ball well (Denver and New Orleans).

Certainly neither team has looked their best recently. I just think Atlanta is a much more balanced team, and I think they'll come up with an adequate game plan against Arizona. They won't stop Warner, to be sure, but probably emulate our "bend-but-don't-break" philosophy.

Same here. I just don't see Arizona winning this game even at home. They have no running game and a lackluster defense.

Im banking on the Vikings winning, so I don't think we have to worry about either of those teams. I don't know who I would rather play though, Falcons or Cardinals, if the Eagles steal one in Minnesota, that is. On one hand you have Atlanta who beat us senseless last time so I can't really see them doing that again. On the other hand you have Arizona who we squeaked past a win but they would have to travel all the way to the east coast after playing a tough one against the Falcons and it will be extremely cold, screwing their pass attack over.
