How did our 2008 draft picks work out for us?

Obviously Otah and Stewart were amazing. But what about the rest?

I can't remember who all we drafted but here are a few that we can still be excited about:

1. Hilee Taylor - injured of late (calf or something) however could this be our version of John Abraham??? Showed some promise however needs to gain some weight and strength. I'm excited about him!

2. Dan Conner - lost him for the season due to ACL but he could really add great debth next year. Another very promising player.

3. Gary Barnage - Not sure about this guy. I think he plays special teams for now. Could this be our next Jason Witten?

Who else do we have that may make the Panthers even better next year? Did I miss anyone?

I think we should draft another defensive lineman (for sure) to add depth and perhaps even another offensive lineman (games are won/lost in the trenches folks).

Yea this is a bit early to be talking about but I'm bored waiting for our next game. :D

I will be suprised if Dan Connor works out here, for some reason we keep drafting 3-4 LBs to be our back-ups, like we are specifically drafting them to play special teams and never take a snap

we have davis, beason, diggs and anderson, these are the only guys i think really fit in our system

the rest are stocky guys with good instincts but marginal physical skills to play in a 4-3 as far as coverage and blitzing is concerned

I've always been confused by this

The reason Dan Conner was taken was because he was amazing value for a third rounder. It was almost like getting someone like Felix Jones in the third round.

I like BPA, and Connor was definatley BPA, but will it be worth it even if he doesn't fit here?

I mean when we drafted richard marshall it seemed odd because we already had two good corners, but he was BPA, but he also fit into what we were doing

The Falcons have had four winning seasons in their illustrious franchise history.

Saw this coming but you'll notice i wasn't pointing out that the Panthers have a bad history for such a young franchise (it's actually damn good for an expansion team) and it's more than 4 actually. Was just saying Dynasty? That's just a lot premature

EDIT: we have 10 winning seasons.

I haven't seen much of Nick H either. What round did we draft him in?

      But that's just an opinion essentially based upon three games---basically nothing.  As for "great" career, that's in the eye of the beholder. I'd say that if he becomes a starter or even a high end backup, that may not be great, but it would be good. If he ends up a long term starter, then that is pretty great. But I could argue that less than a dozen QBs have had "great" careers for the last 50 years. It's just a matter of definition. There are certainly a number of QBs drafted higher than Sanders and with much higher expectations that have ended up as backups or out of the league altogether. If he has any kind of staying power, he's already overachieved according to many.

      So...yeah, the snark and whataboutism really just works as a dodge here.  So again, I'll lay it out one last time....are you actually willing to argue for the sake of arguing the Saints RBs in 2025 are better than ours?   and their OL?  Is that what you are doing here.

      I think outside noise was a MASSIVE factor.  Teams don't want it.  And it gets really hard to have it for anyone that isn't your star player.   I do think for example, if Skip Bayless didn't exist and that circus....NFL teams would have loved the utility player/locker room presence of a The Golden Calf of Bristol after he flamed out as a starting QB.  Same thing.  But he basically was deemed unsignable because a Taysom Hill role player can't be taking up the air waves/oxygen ,  press conferences and be a national spectacle every single day for a coach/staff to deal with.  I mean, Saunders is literally a walking reality TV show
