SorthNarolina's Updated Mock Draft with trade down scenario....

*(If the mods could delete my other mock draft I'd appricite it)*

Here is my rationale for this mock draft. We can't replace peppers with another project DE so I see us replacing him through FA. We have a logjam of DT's on the roster so I don't see the team seeing DT as a big need. Any DT we draft late will most likely not make the team and I don't see us taking DT in the 2nd because a DT mostly likely won't be BPA(even though the position is very deep).

Our 2nd rounder right now is at an akward place. I don't feel there is a big difference between three 2-3rd guys compared to two 2-3rd guys.

#62 2nd - Navorro Bowman OLB - one of the few pure 4-3 LB's in the draft. He has character issues and a good amount of smaller injuries. But he will be great value here and is expected to be here. James Anderson is suited for WLB, Connor is much better at MLB. Landon Johnson is a career backup and Diggs plays well but isn't getting any younger. The FO places great stock in pedigree as they openly admit they love LB's from Penn State and Miami. Stregthens special teams.

Alt #62 2nd - Lammar Houston DT - fits with meeks system will work well in rotation. Add a little bulk to strengthen interior pass rush. Great DT to stretch plays out and lead them right into TD.

#78 3rd - Demaryius Thomas WR - I don't know how far the foot will drop him. We have our Doctor working on him so I figure I'll follow the Jonathan Stewart logic and take him here.

Alt #78 3rd - Taylor Price - physical god, lives on olympus, drinks ambrosia etc.

#94 3rd - Jacoby Ford WR - grab the local speedster. We have had talented kick returners and burners. But never a guy with 4.28 speed AND return skills. When you add in his local popularity I'd say he's looking pretty attractive. Still this could be a very unrealistic place to pick him because of the likelyhood that somebody will reach for him. His combine has been very impressive.

Alt #94 3rd - A.J. Edds OLB - move Edds up a spot.

#109 4th - A.J. Edds OLB - great SLB prospect, good size. Great in coverage to be so huge. WLB is all locked up with anderson and davis. Strengthens special teams while offering an outside chance as a starter.

Alt #109 - Rennie Curran - Plays VERY well for his size, won't fit everywhere but the Cover 2/Tampa 2 will be a cushy landing spot. Would be a great selection. Strengthens special teams.

#166 6th - Ed Wang OT - good prospect to develop in the future. Can play both tackle positions. Both of his parents were olympians = WIN.

Alt #166 6th - Trindon Holiday - grab the speedy return man, keep him as a 4th RB or 5th WR.

#208 7th - Armanti Edwards QB - Mock drafts are far too unpredictable after the 3-4th round so I'm just going to pick this fellow.

Alt #208 7th - Will Barker OT- doesn't really matter who yah pick here. Just grab the signature "late round OT who plays well when gross is injured" guy.

Out of this draft we have 2-3 starters(assuming returner as a position). The depth at WR is so poor anybody in the 3rd will be a huge upgrade. Special teams will be signifigantly strengthened.

I think this is better idea than staying put, with Richardson rumoured to be looking to keep costs low this may be a likely scenario. This is not so much my idea for what we need but my interpretation of what the FO will do come draft day.

If somebody could tell me how to edit titles I would appriciate it, then I can just update my mock without having to ask the mods to do it for me.

As a recap

Original:

2nd - Navorro Bowman OLB

3rd - Demaryius Thomas WR

3rd - Jacoby Ford WR/RS

4th - A.J. Edds OLB

6th - Ed Wang OT

7th - Armanti Edwards QB/WR/RB

Revised:

2nd - Lammar Houston DT/DE

3rd - Taylor Price WR

3rd - A.J. Edds OLB

4th - Rennie Curran OLB

6th - Trindon Holiday WR/RB/RS

7th - Will Barker OT

I disagree on an OLB being our 1st pick. I do think we should draft one but not until the 4th or 5th round, (maybe someone like Rico Mccoy from Tennessee or Stevenson Sylvester from Utah). Either a DE or WR will be our 1st pick. I like the idea that someone said the other day on here about trading this years and next years 2nd rd draft picks for a late 1st rd pick to try and get Golden Tate, maybe Brandon Graham if he falls since he tweaked/injured his hamstring while running the 40.

Don't see us taking two LBs when it is our strongest position. We could take one, but don't think it'll be before we take a WR or DT.

I wouldn't mind having that draft but with the 40 time that Jacoby Ford just ran...he's not falling past the 2nd round. If Golden Tate and Dez Bryant are both gone by the time we pick in the second round, I would take a serious look at either Ford or LaFell. I'm not a big Demaryius Thomas fan...
