Matt Moore and the Tender

I think there will be a little bit of a game of chicken here and they'll just put the first round tender on Moore. And I agree with it.

The only teams outside the top 10 picks this year that need a QB are Seattle (14), San Fran (17) and maybe Minny (30).

If we got a top ten pick in this draft, it's for sure worth it. I'll argue that with anyone.

As far as the Vikes, it's doubtful they'd risk losing Favre to take Moore. The other two, I could see. Worst case scenario, we get our pick back at 17. Seattle's more likely at 14.

So, worth it at that level? Personally, with the greatest draft in decades, I say yes.

I had long held that the second round tender would be the right move for Moore, but I'm probably the only one who's thought that. Highly unlikely anyone else would agree at this point in the game.

Having now heard though that Bruce Gradkowski got the second round tender, I'd probably have to cave and say give Moore the first or the first and third. No way I see him as being on the same plane as Gradkowski.

Greatest draft in decades? Not even close. This is a very deep draft class, where valuable/high quality players will likely still be around in the 2nd round.

but as for your question, yeah the 1st round tender is best. people might give up a 2nd round pick to get him and I don't want to risk it.

I couldn't get behind losing Moore unless I knew the team were going to pick up a starter level QB via free agency or trade, and there's not a single prospect available via that pool that I'd rather have than Moore. mcCown is the closest I'd come to that, and even then I'd prefer he stay on as a backup.

Even if they would, I wouldn't take it.

This team isn't going to start a rookie QB. Thus, losing Moore, even for a top ten, would mean either depending on a free agent (in a class that sucks) or putting Delhomme back in line for the starting spot. Neither of those is an option I like.

definitely agreed. at the moment I basically see Moore as a rookie. He's better than any 'project' we could get in the draft, and has experience. People need to relax and realize it's not the end of the world that we have no 1st rounder.

even if we had a high first rounder, I'd much rather grab a legit WR/DT over a Clausen/Bradford.

A Clausen or Bradford would actually be worth the risk, but we wouldn't see that.

Somehow I find this notion silly.

The 1st and 3rd tender please. He's a potential starting QB. He's worth it.

Lowballing him is just playing with fire. The money you save is nowhere near worth it.

Ok I will play. Still think first and third tender is the way to go but if another team coughed it up I would take it. Use the first to take a QB and resign McCown and I think we can survive the season and still make the playoffs.

With the QB situation we have here, it's such a risk to give up Matt Moore for any draft pick. like others have said, he is.. in fact.. better than any QB prospect at this time with his experience and all and we know his capabilities.
