Armanti Edwards

Recommended Posts

Hell no I not being Sarcastic. Obviously you have ties to App. Put him the SEC or Big Ten every week as a QB and he gets crushed. I'm not knocking him, he's an athlete, not a pro QB. His is 5'10" on a good day. To skinny. He was recruited D1 as a corner or DB. Maybe he can play in the NFL on the defensive side but there is no way in hell he plays QB. Stop looking through the rose colored glasses. Armanti Edwards will not be a QB in the NFL. Lets take a look at Chris Leak, Played D1, Florida, won a Championship, one of the best passing QB's in College ball. He may not be as mobile as Armanti, but he was far superior to Armanti. Leak never even got looked at twice. I expect Armanti won't get half the consideration.

Try to separate the emotional part of your thinking for just a second and you will realize what I am saying

i counter leak with flacco.

Here's a question, if he had never gone to App St...would this even be a thread? Would we even know who he is? Don't let homerism blind you. It takes a special QB to be successful while being small. If you think he's as talented as Brees, well...good for you. I don't think he is.

Now...another position? Sure. Draft him as a project. As an NFL QB? No thanks.

You didn't say anything about size, you simply implied that no QB coming out of FCS has a shot in the NFL. Some of the top QB in the NFL came out of FCS....Ill agree on the size part though, known that for awhile, but he makes up for it in his athleticism, and drive to win.

you are right. I had just woken up and I was thinking Armanti. What I meant was he was great for his size in the FCS. I know some good QB's have come from the FCS. ;)

with a qb like edwards hes not gunna stand around in the pocket all day. he'll roll out and throw on the run alot. it also opens up your offense because most of the time the defense will need to have a "spy" on edward. opening up a zone or a WR 1 on 1

If Pat white can't start in the NFL, what makes you think Armanti Edwards can

Pat White > Armanti

lol maybe the dolphins will ridiculously overdraft a gimmick QB again this year.

and then the Panthers will lose to those ridiculous gimmicks for the second time at home on another prime time game.

What idiots.

There are currently only 2 starting QB's under 6'. Drew Brees, David gerrard, If he is better than those two, and he is not, I would sign him. If there are any others that are CURRENTLY STARTERS, please tell me who. I don't want him here if he is a one trick pony who wouldn't be able to take over as a starting QB. Maybe as a punt returner, DB. Like I said He is strictly an athlete and teams will only look at him as a project

So you're saying we should draft The Golden Calf of Bristol? ;)

Disclaimer: In no way do I think the Panthers should take a chance on The Golden Calf of Bristol. I'm a Gators fan, not blind.

    • I think his stats will depend on the development of the rookies and sophomore receivers, which isn't totally under is control. The eye test is a different story. Has to consistently look the part before you decide to pay him Purdy money.
    • Interestingly I think we have kind of of gone through this as an organization. Richardson implemented an FO driven tank. Bad roster, no cash spent, coach uninterested. It may have been for different reasons but I think the results were the same. A team that wasn't going to win many if any games. We ended up with the #1 pick. Cam Newton came in and changed the franchise. It worked, but Cam himself pointed to the losing culture in the locker room needing to be changed. It probably took about 2-3 years for that to happen. Tank worked pretty damn well for us. Cam is one of one. Not another like him, everyone can't deliver on his draft status AND change a culture basically on his own.  So as an exercise here are the last 30 #1 picks. If you tanked and got to pick #1 how many of these guys do you think were worth it? Not just good players, but franchise changers. Guys who will take your culture and shift it so the tank was actually worth it. I would say maybe 9 or 10 guys would be worth a tank, pending the last 5 picks?    2025: Cam Ward (Miami (FL)) - Tennessee Titans 2024: Caleb Williams (USC) – Chicago Bears 2023: Bryce Young (Alabama) – Carolina Panthers 2022: Travon Walker (Georgia) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2021: Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2020: Joe Burrow (LSU) – Cincinnati Bengals 2019: Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) – Arizona Cardinals 2018: Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma) – Cleveland Browns 2017: Myles Garrett (Texas A&M) – Cleveland Browns 2016: Jared Goff (California) – Los Angeles Rams 2015: Jameis Winston (Florida State) – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2014: Jadeveon Clowney (South Carolina) – Houston Texans 2013: Eric Fisher (Central Michigan) – Kansas City Chiefs 2012: Andrew Luck (Stanford) – Indianapolis Colts 2011: Cam Newton (Auburn) – Carolina Panthers 2010: Sam Bradford (Oklahoma) – St. Louis Rams 2009: Matthew Stafford (Georgia) – Detroit Lions 2008: Jake Long (Michigan) – Miami Dolphins 2007: JaMarcus Russell (LSU) – Oakland Raiders 2006: Mario Williams (North Carolina State) – Houston Texans 2005: Alex Smith (Utah) – San Francisco 49ers 2004: Eli Manning (Mississippi) – San Diego Chargers 2003: Carson Palmer (USC) – Cincinnati Bengals 2002: David Carr (Fresno State) – Houston Texans 2001: Michael Vick (Virginia Tech) – Atlanta Falcons 2000: Courtney Brown (Penn State) – Cleveland Browns 1999: Tim Couch (Kentucky) – Cleveland Browns 1998: Peyton Manning (Tennessee) – Indianapolis Colts 1997: Orlando Pace (Ohio State) – St. Louis Rams 1996: Keyshawn Johnson (USC) – New York Jets 1995: Ki-Jana Carter (Penn State) – Cincinnati Bengals
