We've stopped the bleeding. Now we've got to stop the bleeding

Man, I am psyched about all the goings on. Who would have ever thought that I'd be smiling with all of these cuts? I mean, wow! We have actually parted the ways with Pep. He got what he wanted, now will we get what we want (By the way, I think he kinda implied that Carolina wasn't committed to a winning tradition)? We finally dumped a whole lot of dead weight, beginning with Jake. Feeley has left for the Rams. And, unbelievably, we don't have any starters from our 2009 D-line. A week ago, i would have never believed that our slow moving, conservative, some might say "loyal" FO would move so fast and decisively, seemingly using a machete as opposed to a scalpel to cut the fat, and then some. Yeah, I'm grinning right now, from ear to ear, but you know how you're getting what you think is great news---mouth all wide open, looking directly at your source of enjoyment---but then a little bit of reality starts to seep through, and that smile becomes almost immeasurably smaller, and your eyes begin to rove just a wee bit (i.e., it becomes a little fake and/or plastered), well I'm beginning to get that feeling a little bit. Time to stop jettisoning the dead weight through the torpedo tubes, and fix and close some of those valves that have sprung open from the vacancies.

I like the apparent youth movement, but we need some old blood and new blood to rise back to the top.

On an off note, why hasn't anyone mentioned Dumervil?

Completely agreed. It's all still a little confusing and overwhelming, but this is for the best. It really put a lot more emphasis on the draft though.

and as for Dumerville: we don't have a 1st and 3rd round to get him and even if we did Denver would match whatever we offered to keep their best player.

Because the Broncos want a 1st and 3rd for Dumervil and we don't have a first.

Yeah, that's realistic. I was thinking that perhaps we could work something out, but the Broncos just aren't gonna let him go unless thatere is a huge bone involved in a trade deal, which is probably unrealistic.

You know what Dumervil's middle name is?

Kool!

I guess I don't have to ask what his parents were smoking.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
