why matt moore will be successful here in carolina

Recommended Posts

No need to make excuses or justify. I am not saying that he won't get it to Smith consistently this Fall. I simply was responding to the poster who said that Moore already has shone he could get it to Smith consistently. I just pointed out the numbers don't suggest any type of consistency yet. Doesn't mean it won't happen, simply that it is too early to say it is already the case.
Dude I am sure at this point in smith carreer he don't care about numbers anymore. He wants the ring more then anything. I am sure so long as Moore hlps the panthers win games and smith gets enough catches to stay happy and get to the playoffs and maybe one more chance at a SB ring. Smith don't care about the catches on to win a SB ring.

fox has literally said that moore is their starter.
You missed the point I was making.

I know that Moore is the starter. That doesn't show a committment for the long term though. The team is committing to moving on from Jake Delhomme, and in the direction of Matt Moore. They are hoping that he proves himself even more this coming season, so they can make a commitment to him as or franchise QB.

yes matt will fit right inn as u saw towards the end of the season. even without steve he played well and got the win. i like how he spreads the ball around
I agree with you bro. Moore played good even without smith for the final few games after smith got hurt in the Giant game. Moore has done moore then enought o prove he is worthy of been a starter for us this year and beyond.:smash:

Why Matt Moore will be successful...because he's better than Delhomme and we accepted that bum for 7 years
:mad:And dude Jake is no ****** Bum. Jake did a great for us for 7 years. Took this team to 2 NFC championship games and won 1 of them and help the panthers to the SB in 2003. And he is was greAt in SB 38. It's just after the elbow injury and the Surgry. He has not been right since. Plus on top of that Age caught with him aswell. I respect Jake for what he did for use for those 7 years. But like with any aging player in the NFL with they get old and can not perform like they use to. It time for them to be released and move on are retire point blank. But never ever call him a bum ever. Jake did better things for us then any pther QB did in panthers history. If anyone is a bum is you. Jake will be missed and all. But it was time for a changing of the QB postion for us to move on. Moore is younger and ready to take the keys and once again make us into a SB calibuer team. Good luck Jake.

Actually that was 6 yrs., not 7. :P

And is Moore better? Well, he was better than Jake recently. But is he better than Jake in his prime around the SB & before his surgery? That is a big question mark. When he is a starter for a few years here, we'll see.

Didn't know you were his agent or regularly converse with him. Otherwise how do you have a clue what he thinks or wants? Why is it that everyone with a keyboard suddenly thinks they know what players think or want. At least reference a story or interview if you want a modicum of credibility.

Matt Moore made the whole Offense better. I really think you might see a #2 WR emerge from what we had last year simply because Moore makes him better. Still I would love to have a WR or two in the draft.

The defense played better too.

A Moore/Smith connection is not what I'm worried about. The future is Moore and Jarrett, if that connection happens, the Offense will really start to click.

You think Smith or Jarrett will be here in a month. Jarrett maybe but I wouldn't be surprised to see Smitty asking for a trade or just being traded.

And are you talking about the defense we had which is gone or the one we will have?

The team isn't showing a long term commitment towards anyone right now. They signed all the FA's to tender offers. Including Marshall and Davis.

    • Let's be completely honest about this... Our WR room is AT and a bunch of question marks. Thielen is the only guy we know who knows the route tree completely, understands play calls and can regularly get open/beat close coverage when necessary. He's long in the tooth, isn't the speediest guy on the field but he plays like a pro, starting level wide receiver. Xavier, last season looked great at first, but man he kind of petered out down the stretch and would disappear in a number of games. He wasn't reliable on routes or getting open and where he was supposed to be a king at contested catches, he often looked a bit intimidated. I'm not saying he's a washout by any means. Anyone with his size, speed and catch radius could make it big in the NFL, but can he do it? He'll need to show more than he did in the preseason before we can really rely on him as a WR1 or WR2.  Coker was a revelation last season, he really played way above his (non)draft status and flashed multiple times in games and was a steady performer. What we need to find out, though, is whether he was benefiting from being an unknown that wasn't getting maximum effort from opposing DBs or if he was just outworking and outhustling everyone on the field. We should find out this season. We sure as hell didn't find out much in the pre-season (from him or any receiver or QB for that matter). He's still a question mark, but I think he has the look of the real deal. He might be this generation's next Thielen. Now, let's talk about Tet. High first round draft pick, first true WR off the board this year. Stellar career out west in college. Has the swagger of the WR1. And man, y'all are going to get mad about this but... he comes across as a mook. And in the pre-season he performed, well, not so great against poor opposition of second and third stringers. Yeah, he caught that one moonshot ball in the first game but really, nothing else lighting the place up. Rookie endzone drop in that game, too. He's still young and adjusting, I'm sure, but I was hoping to see something of a breakthrough kind of guy. I'm still looking. Hunter Renfro? Gosh, I hope he can make the team and make a comeback to his old form. It would be such a great story. But maybe neither one of those happens. We won't know until Tuesday and then, if he makes it past there it could be weeks. So, TL;DR: AT is all we can bank on right now. We couldn't afford to let him go considering the number of unknowns we'd be throwing out there for our QB, who himself is still an unknown. One thing to add: Our receivers coaching group has their work cut out for them. I hope they are up to the task, but the pre-season gave me little reason to believe in them. And I really need something to believe in here in Carolina.
    • Same I think Randsom is a baller..... hopefully we don't have to suffer through 4-8 games of Scott blowing azz to get him on the feild.
    • Linebacker is the biggest need - I hope we figure out a way to address it. Krys Barnes is the only one who even moderately flashed.  Super nervous about Trevin/Rozeboom as a duo (Still like Trevin) I'd be excited if we had a better vet to mentor Trevin.  Or a better younger guy to support Rozeboom.  They just don't fit well and it may be a big problem against the run, even with our DL much improved.
