I actually hope we just move Rosario to WR and roll with King and Barnidge at TE

You said there aren't any/many 250lbs wrs in the NFL. Obviously Rosario could drop some weight with a full off-season to work with. Now you're backtracking ;)

You got me. Hell, I guess Wharton could lose weight and try to play TE too, but it ain't gonna happen, because him and the Panthers are smarter than you.

Yea they could move Rosario to WR.....I don't see it working and Thought they should have went after a FA WR for the 2nd spot. Looks like it's smith and another slow poke against 4 Db's. Unless they hit the jack pot in the draft for WR's the panther's have one guy on the team at WR that could catch 50 + balls.

I don't see what the position listed on the roster has much to do with anything. He can be listed as a TE and line up as the 3rd wideout option frequently.

Well damn Zod, lots of teams will line up a TE out wide sometimes, that doesn't mean they're making them full time WR's.

BTW, has everybody forgotten that there is a draft coming up soon, and that the Panthers will have a chance to get another WR using that option?

You obviously miss the obvious here. You think the 15 lbs make his slower. Players who go from college to the pros engage in offseason and ramped up conditioning programs designed to get them stronger while retaining the flexibility and speed they had as a younger player. Look at Smitty. He pumped up significantly since college but surely didn't lose speed until age has caught up with him as it does everyone.

I don't know how this relates to what I said at all. "WELP YOU SEE PLAYERS GO THROUGH STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING IN THE OFF-SEASON AND THAT SOMEHOW RELATES TO BARNIDGE BEING AN INCH TALLER AND 15 POUNDS LIGHTER THAN ROSARIO WHEN THEY HAD THEIR COMBINE EVENTS JUDGED."

And 40 times aren't the only way to judge ability or speed. Still the fact that experts, coaches, and scouts beleive 40 times are important while you don't just indicates who is the expert here and who iisn't. Williams for example doesn't outrun people and has been caught severa times from behind. His usefulness is having great moves, lateral movement and vision in the open field. I don't know how that comparison is germaine given Rosario's suspect ability in other areas as well. He is third on the depth chart as a tight end and there are great talent observers on here that think he could be a wide receiver. Yeah we really need another 5th receiver instead of number 2. This will be the answer to Smitty calls for someone faster than he is. LOL

I posted Williams' 40 time at the combine to illustrate a point, one that you have beautifully helped me demonstrate. Williams had tweaked something before the combine. His 40 time suffered. At Memphis' pro day he ran a 4.4 flat. Jon Beason had a leg injury as well, and his 40 time also suffered. I can go on and on ad nauseam if you'd like. The bottom line is that, depending on the circumstance, 40 times are as useless as your posts in this thread.

How about instead of trying to remake a mediocre talent at best, we actually go out and get a proven wide receiver? Yeah apparently it is novel concept around here.

Unless we sign a veteran, which it doesn't seem likely that we will do, we'll be drafting a player. Which I hope we do. The problem is I don't see anyone we draft starting on day one regardless.

Nope haven't forgotten about it, just that the panther's to get what's needed a speedy wr that can contribute at least some in year 1 will either have to trade up into the end of the first/ beginning of the second at least. They don't need another big 6-2 guy who can't run.

The only TE who lined up outside on any regular basis last year was Barnidge. Probably because he is actually fast enough to get open and runs routes like a WR instead of a TE like Rosario. Why would anyone in their mind put Rosario out there when he can't get separation against any DB and has poorer hands and is slower than a TE already on the roster? It is stupid to consider Rosario as a WR when he can't even play TE that well. Why you and others have bought into this is beyond me. When the team actually considers this let me know. Until then, it is just another stupid idea someone gaves leg because they were bored and it got championed by the clueless.

What is the Panthers track record on drafting starting WR's under Fox/Hurney?

Until they got DeAngelo Williams they couldn't seem to find a winner at RB either. But you're right I guess...since they haven't drafted well at the WR position, they should just give up and never try it again. Never mind that fact that their entire college scouting department is different now.

Then why, in the name of all that is holy, would you want Rosario to be a WR? I don't care how much weight he loses, he still won't be a fast WR.

Sure they should try again. Should they be betting the passing offense on it? Nope. FA's are much needed now.

So which FA stud WR do you think they have a shot at? I don't see any unless they trade their entire draft for Brandon Marshall.
