Panthers looking at DE Marques Douglas

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Keep in mind Brayton was 280 and Douglas is only 10 pounds heavier than that. I would assume they'd try him out at defensive end first.

Exactly. He would be a run stuffing DE that could slide in on passing downs to provide better pressure up the middle....much like Brayton.

I don't think that's necessarily the case.

He has never played a DE in a 4-3, why would we do it now? Meeks likes his DTs smaller and quicker.

P55...The Man Will Argue over anything!

It isn't arguing but conversing with those posters who actually know football like Mr Scot who made the point intially. Sorry if that leaves you out..

Why? He has played a DT for the Jets and Baltimore. That is the only position he has ever played.

No he will be a runstuffing DT who will play more in running situations than passing ones. He doesn't have the speed to rush off the edge like Brayton did. He will be an inside rusher from what I have seen. You guys forget that when Brayton came into the league his 40 times and bench presses were better than Peppers. He is alot quicker and more atletic than most folks give him credit here. Which is why I can't understand why we didn't make more of an effort to keep him. Meeks DTs are also smallish kind of guys.

Bullshit signing this guy sucked in the 3-4 and won't be any better in 4-3. Atleast when we got Brayton he was still young. This guy is 3 years pass the decline point for Dlinemen. This is a waste of money we could be useing on a WR or better DE.

So says someone who knows jack poo about scouting players.

I am not saying that he will be good or not....we don't know.

Everyone is letting their emotions get the best of them.

MH lets be real I would understand looking at this guy if we didn't have the money too gets someone better or he was younger and had upside.

Then the fact that you have Brayton out their who atleast is younger and Knows your system and this guy we are interested in? We do have the extra money too give Brayton and atleast have a person who has been here.

Which is why we traded for Louis Leonard, who is very small and quick, rofl. The smallest end we've ever started under Fox was Rucker at 275, and that was a guy already in place before Fox got here. Johnson's 276, Peppers was 283, Brayton was 280.

Douglas has never played in a 4-3 period, so maybe he's not coming here at all then!

Go check out the internet junior. The Patriots are interested in adding Douglas as well.

Wonder why Bellichik might be interested in a player that Koolkatluke thinks is garbage? Maybe because you don't know poo about evaluating talent....the same with the rest of us.

As for Brayton, I have said several times that I would like to keep him The FO tried to work out a contract with him last week and could not. We don't know what he is asking for.

1st off calm the f down we are having a conversation no need too be a ahole.

The Patriots have less money then us and have alot of picks in the draft. Not too mention they actually play a 3-4. They can look at him and not really depend on him making a impact. We need somebody who can get in and become a leader or have some sort of impact. We have lost our hole starting Dline if he sign here he would be needed too play more then 15 plays a game. They can bring him in as insurance. The Panther and the Patriots are not in the same situation. We need a better player.

I was just making a point that everyone is talking about Douglas like he is a scrub....just because he is not a big name players.

We always over react based on emotion.
