Antonio Bryant Headed to Cincinnati?

Really? By many assertions here Jake kept us from the playoffs and everything else was fine. I personally think there was a couple of other issues like a solid #2 WR and injuries. This team had one or two more years with many of the players that was cast aside without building for the future NOW. Of course you don't want an aging team, but it don't have to be an all or nothing mentality, however.

My point was the team could have selectively undergone this metamophasis instead of "kicking all the bums out" mentaility. Once we got the D-line back healthy and found a compliment to Smitty along with steady QB play, the playoffs were (in my opionion) assurd.

You are thinking about the future, apparently the front office is too, that's fine. I just think a very promising 2010 season just got scrapped in the process is all. True we still have a core, BUT there will too many unproven, YES unproven players (spot play or a couple games insn't enough for me) to overcome the learning curve for a successful season.

But, by selectively doing it in teh future, you would have Cap implications. JR is taking the opportunity to do what needs to happen all under a no cap scenario.

He is taking a risk on 2010 that willhave big positives long-term. How it plays out for 2010....we will have to wait and see.

4 years $28 mill. Isn't that Boldin money? He hasn't proven enough to earn that....

Word. Now I'm glad we didn't get him. I would've been ok if it was for less money. Let him get what he is worth than paying him too much the Bengals gave him. He isn't worth the contract he got from them.

Look, I know it's a lot of money, but you guys confuse me sometimes. If we had gotten Bryant, it would do so much for us. It'd not only make our passing game a thousand times better, it would also free up that 2nd round pick for us to draft for our D-Line.

Now I'm not saying we should be like the Redskins and buy out every big name available, but when your team doesn't even have a legitimate #2 WR and a guy with Bryants ability shows up on the market, YOU GET HIM DAMMIT!

Bryant has the ability to be a #1 WR on a lot of teams. I'm really disappointed that we didn't try to get him. :(

Just pretend we tried, and someone else paid too damn much.
