It's a whole new Era in Panther Land...

Folks,

The writing is on the wall in Carolina. This off season has marked one of the biggest shake ups Panthers History.

This team still has some talent and some players who will compete.

BUT

From this point on, everything with this team is one big

?

...Some like it (the grass is always greener) Some dont (Doom and Gloom)

But at this point you have to expect 8-8 and hope for the best.

The thing that made made 2003 so special is that NO ONE expected it, we might see some excitement like that again in Carolina in 2010.

But one also has to think that we are headed for a repeat of 2001.

For the last several years we were only a few players away from a SB, now we are a lot farther from that.

Only time will tell.

One thing is certain, this is a Panther team that no one knows what to expect, and anyone who claims to is a blabbering IDIOT.

I think our needs are the same as they were a few weeks ago. Anyone thinking Lewis and Kemo make that big of a difference have to be out of their minds. It was Delhomme's time to go and although I didn't like letting Hoover go we didn't miss a beat with Sutton in there and Fiammetta should be ready to handle it. I think Diggs was 50/50 although he was diminishing, his skills we usually solid and he brought veteran stability. However Anderson and Conner are talented player and both are in their 2nd and 3rd years.

This is why we draft players folks. It's about time we give them a chance. When I look at Louis Leonard, Tank Tyler, Charles Johnson, E. Brown , Tony Fiammetta, Tyrell Sutton, Matt Moore, Dan Conner, and James Anderson.. I see talent not scrubs like you gloom and doomers think and apparently John Fox and Hurney think so to and they are closer to the players and know more football than any of us likely ever will. So can we stop bitching?

I know you guys all worry about leadership and everything but Matt Moore has sat behind Jake for 3 years now. Charles Johnson played side by side with Lewis for 3 years. TD and Beason are natural leaders and have picked up on Digg's veteran experience as I'm sure guys like Conner and Anderson have as well. It's time let these guys step in to those "leadership" roles.

I have to say I like the idea of making some moves this off season. How fast a year goes bye. Last year most people was thinking "great we have kept most of the team that made it to the Playoffs". Look at where that got the Panthers. I'm happy the over 30 crowd is getting replaced. I really like Hoover and wish he was able to stay, but at the same time it is not a bad idea to try to get better at each position. This board is way to fast at yelling the Panthers are going to fail.

Letting players go is not always a bad idea.

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
