How we CAN make the playoffs

As you all of you already know the entire media is convinced Carolina is doomed this year. many here say thats because they dont know our team well etc... but it goes a bit deeper then that doesnt it?

With our current plan does anyone here REALLY BELIEVE that we will be a playoff contender with our present squad and added draft picks?

I ACTUALLY FOR ONCE agree with a lot of what Hurney has done this off-season. I really like the "time for our younger players to step it up" philosophy.

I think our defense will be just fine ...AS LONG AS our offense can continue to move the ball.

Will Fox actually modify his formula this season? I dont for see him changing all that much from his ball control/conservative offense...but he will have to tweak it some...wont he?? We have the best 2 back system in the NFL ...I am praying we dont trade either of them for that the heart of offense, but the passing game is still our achilles heal!

Hear me out here...I dont like drama players but seriously why not bring in T.O. and Jevon Walker with 1 YEAR CONTRACTS? ( I still want to draft WR'S..but immdiate impact- not going to happen.)

T.O. is still productive and is in great shape. He would have no problem taking that #1 spot from Steve ( yes I still think T.O. is a #1 WR)

T.O. is fine in his first year where ever he is...limited drama. His consecutive pass catch record was stopped last year with the Bills...which is a huge deal.

T.O. was obviously upset, but he remained very calm about it and I was actully suprised. If he can keep it zipped up in Buffalo with that dreadful offense surely he can make down here for 1 season??!!

Walker is a no brainer....no risk and cheap!!

(remember he was not healthy and on the Raiders!)

Adding these two WR makes us instantly a playoff contender....seriously think about it.

Any benefit T.O. brings to the passing game will be nullified by the 6 game suspension Smitty gets for punching T.O. in the face after he mouths off.

That would be the only reason I would want T.O. on this team.

I've probably said this about 10 times but I'll keep saying it.

I dont see that happening, escially since Smitty wants new routes. They can get along for a year. Winning makes all the difference.

The overall team is much better without TO than with.

TO has way too many ego issues to be part of this team (think of Keshawn squared). I know many will as, how is that different that Smith? The answer is simple. Smith covets winning. TO covets attention

Walker may provide a supporting role but you do not want to count on him too much as it may prove to be costly.

I am going to tell you, once and for all, why the Panthers are not going to sign a big name free agent. Get all of your friends together and tell everyone you know to read this. That way you guys can stop speculating on what big name FA we might bring in.

Right now, barring an unforseen injury, the Panthers are going to get a 3rd round pick in next years draft for Julius Peppers. However, if they sign someone like TO or, God forbid, Javon Walker, that 3rd becomes a 5th or 6th rounder. Depending on the impact said signed player has and how much playing time he gets. That is why the Panthers are not bringing in anybody of any importance.

Yes, that is right. That 3rd rounder next year is worth more to this FO than an over the hill washed up player who is going to take minutes from our young guys. Sorry to dissapoint you.

I know where your coming from, but I still go back to the fact that T.O. 1st season with new teams have been drama free for ther most part. With his record snapped and being on such a terrible offense in Buffalo...do you not find this impressive from T.O.?

T.O. will only make us better.

Walker...he would be #3...whats the harm?

I dont see that happening, escially since Smitty wants new routes. They can get along for a year. Winning makes all the difference.

Smitty is only human. He has flaws. T.O. will not get away with mouthing off. Ken Lucas was on his knee and said something the most likely was a response to Smitty mouthing off. He got sucker punched.

If Smitty will sucker punch Ken Lucas while he's on his knee just for a heated exchange or punch Anthony Bright in a film room; he's going to punch T.O. in the when he says something ridiculous and gets in his face.

Lucas and Bright were probably just participating in a heated exchange. T.O. will actively try to start heated exchanges, a lot.

Not only will we lose Smitty for a while but we might lose T.O. as he may be barred from playing if his face has any serious fractures.

It's not worth the risk. Smith has his flaws but he's at least he's a genuinely good teammate. I think he regrets his actions. However this doesn't mean he's not going to do it again when somebody gets under his skin.

T.O. just plain has flaws. He only regrets his actions because they have negatively impacted himself.

I'm not sure about our playoff chances, but I'm cautiously optimistic. What I do know is that whichever young LB plays the sam position is going to be lights out. Beason is going to have Connor or Anderson playing great ball. If healthy, I fully expect us to have the best LB core in the NFL by the trade deadline.
