So where would you put Steve Smith on your top ten list of receivers?

Recommended Posts

i can't agree with you there.

maybe he's a top 10 receiver in the league RIGHT NOW, but no where near the top 5 all time.

1a andre johnson

1b larry fitzgerald

2 Reggie Wayne

3 Moss

4 Brandon Marshall

5 Ochocinco

6 Smitty

not sure about the rest, bolden, Calvin Johnson, ward, driver, TO, and welker are all somewhere in there too, i don't feel like ranking anyone after smitty though.

Current active players:

1A: Andre Johnson

1B: Fitzy

3: Megatron

4: Brandon Marshall

5: Randy Moss

6: Smitty

7: Reggie Wayne

8: Ochocinco

9: Vincent Jackson

10: Sidney Rice

now this list is just off the top of my head. I've got a brutal headache from all the damn pollen in my area now, so I know I'm forgetting someone or I put someone in the wrong place. the way I see it though, is Fitz and Andre are on a whole different level from all other receivers, and the rest are for the most part interchangeable based on individual opinions.

I will say that out of all of those receivers; Smitty, Brandon Marshall, and Megatron(Calvin Johnson for those who don't know) all have average to below average quarterbacks(or worse..) throwing them the ball. Moss, Fitz, Wayne, and Rice have future HOF'ers throwing them the ball, and V-Jax has Rivers who is a top 5 QB.

I love making these kinds of lists so I'll definitely be back to edit and look at others.

7.Chad Ochocinco

8.Roddy White

9.Wes Welker

10.Anquan Bolden

Steve is arguably the greatest "Smith" of all time. (It's a toss up between him and Emmitt Smith IMO)

It's unfortunate because if Steve Smith had Peyton Manning as a quarterback, I have 0% doubt that he would have already posted multiple 2,000 yard receiving seasons. I think he's the greatest physical talent ever at wide receiver given his size, speed, strength, and jumping ability. The only thing he's ever slightly lacked was route running, which is by no means sub par, and he more than makes up for it with his other remarkable abilities.
