All Division Series: NFC South

Hey folks. My name is Jason Clary and I am an amateur sports writer. I just did a writeup on the NFC South and I wanted to present it first hand to the people who care about the panthers. Carolina is one of my favorite teams in the NFL behind the Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers, and I think after a good draft you guys will be headed back to prominence. If Matt Moore can be as efficient and smart as he was passing last year, you should be a productive team matched up with a pretty good defense.

I'm not sure if it will let me post the link but I will try. It can be read below:

Running Back: Cadillac Williams (CAR)/Jonathan Stewart (CAR)

A Carolina Panther represented backfield, these two running backs pack a one-two punch that is powerful, explosive, and effective. This could be the best backfield in the NFL, and they play for the same team.

oh my

Other than you called DeAngelo Williams, Cadillac Williams it wasn't too bad. Brad Hoover has been released but a definite honor. Thomas Davis outside linebacker is about as awesome an OLB you can get.

Overall not bad.

If you can edit your post on Bleacherreport I would. Credibilty will be questioned on DeAngelo over Cadillac

Cadilac plays for the Bucs not the Panthers. If you want the all CAR backfield it would be Deangelo Williams. Also Hoover was cut this offseason. Thomas Davis is so much better then both the OLB you picked it's not even close. Dunta Robinson has to be on the list of corners now that he's in ATL. SS should be between Chris Harris and Tanard Jackson since a SS is supposed to be an enforcer. Finally Baker shouldn't be the punter I would give that to Michael Koenen. Also not that it matters but your honorable mention list has to include Jeff Otah.

Much Better :D

Haha its been a long day and I was trying to get that done because I was in a hurry to do something else. And take these with a grain of salt. While I would say I know quite a bit about the NFL, you all know Panthers football more than I do. I really hadn't heard much on Thomas Davis until you all mentioned he should be the starter on this team. For consistency purposes I am going to leave him out of the starting lineup but put him at Honorable Mention.

To provoke some thought, how do you all think you will manage next season in the NFC South? I think the Panthers will be fighting for a Wildcard spot as well as fighting for second in the division with Atlanta.

2nd in division, with a wildcard spot.

To be dead honest with you it will all depend on whether we find a partner for Steve Smith. If we can get some consistancy out of the WR spot it is going to be hard to contain the Panthers. The running game as you know is pretty sweet. You tag a good WR Corp and a Solid, not spectacular, QB play from Matt Moore. We are going to be able to sustain 7-10 minute drives. IF our defense is as near as good as it was down the stretch. We could take the division. If you keep the N.O. Offense off the field they can't score.

If we try and go in one dimensional we could be 3rd in the division.

So once again it all depends on the WR position.

When you guys got Dwayne Jarrett I thought he would be a suitable number two option next to Smith. While your running backfield is one of the most potent in all of football, opponents can focus on stuffing the run. Though Smith may break one on the opposing D, it won't stop them from stacking the box and stopping your run game. I would much rather make you pass than run if I was the defense facing your offense. This years draft is pretty deep at receiver so you guys will probably be able to find an option in rounds 1-3. There are even guys like Marcus Easley from UCONN that can be picked in the 4th or 5th round that can come in and make an impact. Easley is a guy to me that can be a diamond in the rough.

Matt Moore has more confidence in Jarrett than Jake didn't. Probably because they both were second team offense so he is used to throwing to Jarrett. That is a positive now that both are on the 1st team. There has been some talk on this forum of moving Goodson to the slot. He has good hands, some speed and quickness. I truly believe if we add a WR or 2 this offense is going to be dangerous.

You are correct and they will stack the box on us and we will be looking at 9-7 or 8-8 again instead of 12-4 or 11-5.

As you keep your notes on the Draft next week. Watch who we get. If the guy we get is a playmaker.

Stand By 2010 is gonna be a banner year for the Panthers.
