BC set to fire coach for meeting w/ Jets

I could understand him being fired for interviewing for another school, especially another ACC school(TOB clause) He was interviewing for an NFL position though, you would think this was an unjust firing, unless they had something in his contract.

And BC plucked him from the NFL, it's not like they should've known he might try and go back there.

Even though the ACC had a lot more teams go to bowl games than other conferences did (they have more teams so why not?) I believe their bowl record this year was 4-5 am i correct? VT won against the big east champ Cincy. Wake beast Air Force. UNC lost to WV. FSU beat Wisconsin. Miami lost to Cal. NC state lost to Rutgers. Maryland beat Nevada. BC lost to Vandy. Clemson lost to Nebraska. VT, Wake, FSU, Maryland are the winners.

It almost looks as if the ACC going up against other big name conference teams lose. I'm a Tech fan but I know the ACC is no where near one of the top conferences.

Make it 4-6, Georgia Tech got flat out embarassed by LSU.

Overall though, the ACC had a winning record against teams from BCS conferences. In fact, they had the best record against other BCS conferences at 15-8. The ACC was 6-6 total against the SEC.

If he was just fired because he interviewed for an NFL job, I think that's crap.

Read somewhere though that he interviewed without advising the college. I could see them being a tad pissed over that (still not sure i'd fire him over it though, at least not first offense).

The ACC JUST this year got its first BCS win. Its 2009.

Miami, FSU and UNC hold the key to success.

Im sorry but watching an ACC conference game is as exciting as watching C-Span or Chelsea Handler..

  • 3 weeks later...

It's happened again.....

The coach at Hampton University (Jerry Holmes) was just fired for looking into NFL assistants jobs. Donovan Rose has been promoted to head coach. Quote from Hampton AD Lonza Hardy...."I felt a dire need to have atop our football program a coach whose commitment, loyalty and devotion to Hampton University were without question". The story says Holmes told officals at the school he intended on interviewing for NFL asst. jobs, Hardy objected. Holmes proceeded with interviews. Hardy fired holmes. The story was printed in the Richmond Times-Dispatch 1-28-2009.

    • Why are you so fixated on yards? Even if yards were a good judge of QB play, his low yardage totals in some of those games were partly a function of drops (looking at you Xavier Leggette…).  I’m not advocating that Bryce was elite for the last half of last year, but the eye test certainly supported high level QB play for large stretches. He made a lot of high difficulty, put it on the money/drop in the bucket throws. He converted on 3rd and 4th down, kept drives moving, and put the team in position to win games. And it’s not on him that the defense blew it late after he led game tying drives, Leggette dropped a game winning TD, or Chuba fumbled the ball in OT. We could have finished the season close to .500 with wins against 3 playoff teams including KC and Philly during that stretch largely due to Bryce’s play.    Has he sustained this level of play long enough to deserve an higher ranking? No. But for judging based in that stretch alone, he would. But whether he can perform more consistently at that level or build on that, and thus earns a higher ranking, remains to be seen.
    • Totally agree with you, if we had invested in drafting a corner or two I wouldn’t even ponder adding Ramsey. But, to be honest we legit added nobody to our corner room this offseason we have nobody worth developing. Even if Chau Smith Wade is better then what I think, he is the only guy we have invested draft capital into outside of our starters.
    • Look at his snap counts, your telling me that his entire college and pro football career every coach he has had has misused him? No offense but I don’t think you understand the role of a slot corner. Mike Jackson is the literal definition of an outside zone corner, he would be totally inept as a slot corner. Ala why he has been an outside corner his entire career.
