what do you guys think of our undrafted free agent pickup here? 5'9", 196 pounds. undersized, but a scraper. reminds me of adrian peterson, but without the elite speed. he certainly has adequate speed for the professional level though. had back to back 1,100 yard rushing seasons. what do you think his chances are to make the team with goodson and sutton already here?

i think goodson or sutton are officially on a bubble.

I doubt very much that's the case, especially with Sutton.

I think we Carolina fans have been a little spoiled. What more do you want in a third-string running back that Goodson or Sutton doesn't provide? We pick this guy up, and then there's some new camp sensation that comes along next year that you think will oust him and become our new favorite at the position.

Sutton has shown he can not only carry the rock, but also lead the way for Williams and Stewart and fill in on special teams when needed.

While Goodson hasn't shown as much, he was taken as a value pick. The front office knew he wouldn't see the field much, and that's why they talked extensively about finding a way to get him on the field as a slot receiver.

If they've kept Jarrett around this long when we needed a No. 2 receiver desperately, I sincerely doubt they cut Goodson when he seems to be a more than capable third-string back and potential receiver.

somebody's got to play in preseason!

pick ups like this, are to rest the guys actually making the team, and pad the roster until cuts are made. now and then, one player or another will shine and make the practice squad. but come week 1, he won't be on the roster.

nah, if anything i'm always disappointed in the preseason because the starters and 2nd string guys play way too much. i want to see the 3rd and 4th stringers but they might only play a handful of plays the whole preseason. i think by the end of camp they must have a good idea of who they want on the team, with the exception of a couple battles still going on, and preseason is more about determining depth than personnel.

i love sutton. i think he's great, and versatile, and i hope to all goodness we keep him. but, for some reason, they've historically been more interested in goodson than sutton. i didn't know goodson might actually be a receiver. i thought that was just huddle wishful thinking. i haven't heard it from any official source, but i don't read as many articles as some of you folks. we'll see, but they always release two or three guys that we all thought would make the team. sutton could be one, so don't hold your breath. i'd rather see goodson go before sutton, but that's just my opinion.

Goodson certainly drew more praise from players and coaches alike last preseason, but it was Sutton who got more playing time.

I could be wrong, but I thought I remembered the coaching staff saying they wanted to work him in as a receiver last year.

You're right that there are inevitably a few guys cut that we didn't see coming; but how often do we have these training camp sensations that everyone hopes will make the team, but they never do? We've seen this quite a bit at the wide receiver position--I think we're less likely to see it at the position we have the most depth at.

do we REAAAALLLYYY need him? absolute best thing we can hope for a a draft pick from some team during the offseason but i seriously doubt we could do that because it's incredibly obvious that we don't need him and he will more than likely be cut or put on the PS where if someone does want him they can have him.

don't get too excited here. not really anything to see.

John Fox gizzed in his pants when he saw the Cowboys 3 man rushing game, he wants a good #3. is it this guy? prob not. not as easy to do this in the NFL. unfortunately, we have to wait until pre-season, if he makes it, and then we still dont know. Remember how awesome we thought Goodson was....

The Giants had that before the Cowboys did.

The balance and second effort remind me of Jonathan Stewart. And whoever made the Fred Lane reference had a good comparison too. Doubt he makes the roster, but practice squad, maybe. Or he'll impress enough in preseason to be someone else's Tyrell Sutton (that could be the most likely outcome).

Funny thing: When you think about it, in DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, we now have what Tshimanga Biakabutuka and Fred Lane were supposed to be ;sosp:
