Chris Harris Traded For LB Jamar Williams

It's like people saying Hardy > Peppers now

I doubt many think Hardy is better than Peppers. I just want a consistent player instead of Pep. When he was on, he was unstoppable. However, he gave you 7-8 games a year where you wondered if he even left the locker room.

Our defense is going to get run on game after game after game.

Has anyone ever watched Charles Godfrey try to make an open field tackle. I honestly believe the guy trips over overgrown blades of grass.

Our front four is a joke, our linebacker core is as solid as it gets, but won't be able to get off of thier blocks due to our defensive front being steamrolled. Then, heaven forbid, our corners and safeties have to make a tackle. Gamble just became our biggest asset against the run in our secondary...good lord.

I guess if this move signifies one thing it is that a lockout is imminent.

Good work Furney.

Wait until you actually see the DL play before you call them a joke. Unproven...yes.

the bears fans seemed to think highly of our new LB...

http://boards.chicagobears.com/forums/thread/2161893.aspx

we'll see how it goes...

kind of surprised by that thread. lots of love for the guy.

Someone had to start it! Thanks for your support, wish you the best in Carolina--except for when we play against them. LOL
Williams will be an animal I guarentee it. Didn't he have 21 tackles the game that Briggs sat out?
Thanks for having a neat looking visor.
....................he needs a starting gig! I'm happy for him!
if carolina gives him a chance to play then he could break out.

i liked what i saw of him from when he played.

wish him the best of luck in carolina

I hope this doesn't bite us like when we got rid of benson and thomas jones.... I love when some of our players are let go and then they end up becoming beastly.
yea harris played great for caroliona after we traded him so i would expect lamar to do real good, i just wish we would have let him play more here but nice to have harris back he knows the system
I always wanted to see Jamar play more but it was tough with Briggs ahead of him on the roster... He deserves a shot to start in this league. I can't wait to see him light it up this year... A good trade for both teams, IMO.
Jamar was too talented to not get a shot somewhere. I bet he tears it up with the Panthers
guaranteed this guy will do well. He left a team that has had no clue how to develop or use people.
Good move for all parties involved! Jamar needs a shot at starting! The big question for us Bear fans is WHO'S NEXT? I'm thinking Dez Clark
Mark my words, Williams will soon too be a stud linebacker.......If not for being behind a pro bowler in Briggs, this guy would be a beast at the weakside lb....best of luck and I hope he does well, except when he plays against us..big Smile [*big*]

A special teams beast in Chicago and hopefully a perennial start for the Panthers. He is a very good player and deserves to start.

Awesome visor too....made the Bears look current.

Hopefully this isn't a madden like curse for Briggs and the Bears.
Best of luck to him. He deserved a chance somewhere else.
Is it too early to start complaining about how JA traded Williams away?
I think this deal works out well for both teams - Carolina can put Williams were he plays best, and we certainly need safety help. Sure makes that game against the Panthers interesting, as if having Peppers come here hadn't already done that.

only one comment that i saw didn't seem to think that this was a big deal

4 years and 2 good games. Open up the Hall of Fame

In Williams, they add a linebacker who is only 25 and fits the youth movement. Williams has been a backup to Lance Briggs in Chicago. Although the Panthers have an opening on the strong side with the departure of veteran Na’il Diggs, they want to see James Anderson, Dan Connor and rookie Eric Norwood compete at that spot. Williams could move over there if the Panthers don’t think they’ve found a starter. But it’s more likely he’ll stay on the weak side and be a backup to Thomas Davis, who is coming back from injury.

It's more likely he'll back-up Davis?

:mad2:

I was underwhelmed with Leonard and Tyler last year in thier minimal time on the field.

I see no reason for thier play to elevate with the removal of Peppers (and no i'm not a peppers fan, but defenses did have to account for him, moreso than Brayton)

No, he was serious, they are a joke. I heard it on Conan last night, it goes like this.

"What do you call four big black guys who like to play with their hands in the dirt?"

"The Carolina Panthers DL!!!"

Buudummdummtaaaachhaaaaaaaaa

This is kind of funny because I saw Godfrey walking around at a Bobcats game a few weeks back and the first thought I had was that he looked much thicker than I remembered when I saw him at TC... Maybe the Panthers told him to bulk up for a move to SS?
could be. i don't know if that helps his tackling. he was getting pretty good about using his body to tackle and he did need to get stronger and more confident (which is kind of what i thought was the reason for his tackling problems).

maybe it will work. godfrey should be better in coverage. i just don't know about him against the run.

it's official

Chris Harris The deal is done. I'm now a member of the Chicago Bears. I'll be back here on Facebook a little later to tell you Carolina Panthers fans how much I love ya and you Bears fans how much I look forward to playing for you again.

    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
