Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland shows a lack of class in Dez Bryant interview

Just before the draft, we heard the most offensive job interview question we can imagine.

Dez Bryant was asked if his mom was a prostitute.

The wide receiver answered and didn't show his anger. Since then, Bryant was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys. And Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports reveals the man who asked the question used to work for America's Team -- current Dolphins G.M. Jeff Ireland.

We agree with Silver and the other ex-NFL players he spoke to: Ireland was unprofessional. (Silver enjoyably goes further, calling Ireland "biggest jerk in the history job interviewers" and an "A-List A-hole." The whole article is worth a read.)

The rumors about Bryant's family were out there, but a potential employer asking about it crosses a line. It wouldn't happen in any other industry

The timing of this news is interesting. We just read a piece about Ireland showing a more human side to the media. In it, Ireland said he hopes to develop as a person.

This story comes just after the Dolphins took some P.R. blows after Jason Taylor 's departure. Zach Thomas said that Bill Parcells wouldn't even let him hold a farewell press conference at the team facility when he left the team in 2008.

Ireland doesn't usually seem to care about his image, which is his right. We'll see if that changes after the country hears this story, and more folks call him an "A-List A-Hole."

Thankfully, Ireland has since apologized. but i still think hes a douche.

It was completely inappropriate. But knowing what a jerk off Parcells is, if Ireland is anything like him, they did it on purpose - not to get an answer but just to purposely see if they could get a rise out of him. Imagine what a huge story it would have been if Bryant would've gotten up and knocked his ass out and then "piledrived" him for good measure.

Parcells probably just wanted to f*ck with him b/c he thought he was related to Antonio. What dicks.

I'm proud of Bryant man. Like a wise man once said to me, part of what makes you a man isn't knowing when to fight, but when to walk away from one too.

    • You aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else here get real. And you've already declared Bryce Young a bust twice. You were up first thing this morning trying to fight people. The time you spend here is more unhealthy than anyone else clearly. Is this what you a do on other social media? Try to get people to fight you then flail about them spending time responding to you? I feel sorry for you. I hope things get better!
    • He didn't have his system in place that first draft because of Scott getting fired after the season so I give him a pass for 2024 even tho jury is still out on XL and it's a longshot but Brooks looked pretty good in his 10 snaps last year, it's possible with modern medicine he is still a good player.
    • He was much better yesterday against the Dolphins. In fact I thought he had a very good game. Our LB's did a good job adjusting to the RPO stuff they ran early.  But he's not the long term answer. He's been consistently poor in his short tenure here. If he runs off a few more solid games like Sunday, we can have a different conversation.
