I'm just saying--Moore's performed well when called upon. Maybe he's not the heir apparent that many think Clausen to be, but he deserves his shot. He certainly didn't give any indication last year that he can't be our guy.

all true

Charlotte has ridden the jake train into the ground at the expense of its integrity as a coaching staff and FO. In the meantime however we have developed a pretty nice defense, o-line and offensive backfield.

Ignoring Jake's shortcomings has allowed them now to focus on a qb and throw a lot of talent at the position creating one of the best position battles we have ever seen in Charlotte.

It is unorthodox I know but it is an advantage of the offense we run to skate by with a game manager and focus on d and running.

Adding a true franchise QB could very well be the missing link. Also by playing them all as much as I think they will this summer we are growing our stack of chips ready to deal them out for whatever seems to be lacking or gets injured before the season starts.

I am as excited about the situation in Charlotte as much as I have been in a while.

I agree good post.

I agree with all of that, and I'm all in favor of a competition, as I think it will bring out the best in the three players.

I just think many people -- not the majority, mind you, but a good number -- continue to have doubts about Moore, largely because he was undrafted and rode the bench for three years. Those reasons might be cause for concern, had Moore not performed as he did.

If that was Clausen that played like Moore did last year, he would have already been anointed.

maybe. most of the doubt stems from what you said and not from the performance on the field obviously. However, being handed the keys from the jump is much different from jumping in the drivers seat with nothing to lose during a lost season and replacing a terrible string of performances.

I like his chances as well as anyone's. One thing everyone needs to grasp including any of the staff who haven't is that what happened before does not matter. It should be an open competition from the start and let the best guy win the job.

I don't think Jimmy's golden-boy status will have enough of an effect as to limit Matt's chances at all.

I just love the fact we will finally have a competition at that position and no more of this teflon thing jake had on Fox and Hurney. Plus TC is going to be Off the Hook. Watching them 2 battle for the spot is going to be great.

Well I wouldn't care if Betty white was under center as long as we won, but stats are for losers and I know that Matt Moore is not Peyton manning. Matt Moore is not drew brees. His ceiling has been set, his mechanics are on tape, he obviously will never break records. Why settle for mediocrity.

nobody has proven anything. that is why there are three of them

how much simpler must it be spelled out?

Moore hasn't proved he can help win games....or throw a ball....or scramble like da Roadrunna outta da pocket....?!?!?!?!

The FO just doesn't want another Weinke season when the #1 Qb goes down. All about plausible depth.

Something doesn't make sense here.

trade 'em all and hire a live band. at least while our offense is on the field it will be entertaining.

1. If stats are for losers why do winners have good stats.

2. Peyton Manning wasn't elite his first few seasons.

3. Drew Brees wasn't elite his first few seasons.

4. How the hell does anyone know what his ceiling is? Seriously?

5. Every quarterback in the league has his mechanics on tape. What is your point?

6. How do you know what his future records will be?

Im not saying Matt is the future. I don't know the future, neither does anyone else. What I am saying is he earned his job so far. He won games he had great numbers; they were on par with the best QB's in the league btw including Manning and Brees. And the team responded to him really well.

It seems to be a general conclusion surrounding the networks & other team's fans that we drafted Clausen to take over for Moore. In this large scale spotlight, people who never really knew about Moore assumed he is a filler type QB that can sometimes win you games (i.e. Feeley/Batch/etc) This is wrong yet projects a glaring shadow into our local panther culture that easily influences fans views. So, in response to most people in this thread: Forget about their feelings, its about the competition.

Its pure and simple and drafting Clausen and Pike assures we will have a damn solid QB on the field next season. It should be fun to watch, and maybe JC can help us emerge into a consistent title contender and garner national spotlight.
