Half a season in 2011 instead of none at all.

When it comes to insurance, you can insure anything and anyone.

Yes it comes at a higher cost than non pro athletes.

Insurance is very customizable.

I sell insurance. but okay.

yes, JLO can insure her ass.. a hand model can insure their hand.

but even if we hypothetically say Mr Football player walks up to BCBS and talks to the higher ups about handing them $5,000 a month, they will still decline any coverage needed that is a result of playing that sport..

making the insurance useless in all cases for these players we are talking about...

was just stating a fact...

And anyone paying $55,000/year for health insurance might as well cover themselves... that kind of money adds up when you can't use it for injuries that occur on the field.. (game or practice)

So what happened to universal coverage and no preexisting conditions that were voted in by congress. I thought those issues would go away.

well, we will see how that works out.. I'm actually getting out of the insurance biz and opening up my own business in a few weeks.. so I've not kept up with the new health care plan that was passed..

But from what few points I can make.. here they are...

There were 3 things to point out iwth the new plan.. 1) people cannot be declined due to pre-existing conditions. 2) people cannot be canceled due to use of their insurance (believe me, relevant.. if you have BCBS, they can and have dropped coverage to people.. YES, YOU FOOLS WITH BCBS INDIVIDUAL PLANS NEED TO LISTEN TO ME WHEN I'M SELLING YOU poo.. lol) and 3) everyone will be eligible to apply for the federal health plan that exists to federal employees..

so.. 1) irrelevant to anyone considering you may not be declined for coverage but that doesn't mean you can afford to pay $1500/month because you once had a heart attack. not being declined is a f**king joke when you can't afford your insurance. and that doesn't mean they will cover your pre-existing condition. they can and will put a rider on there which states anything pertaining to such and such condition will not be covered for "x period of years" or "ever"...

2) same as above.. they may not drop your coverage, but they have tier systems which will place you in a different tier if you have a heart attack or cancer.. utilize the insurance... they move you to a different tier and you're now paying $1500 - $2000 a month.. no they didn't cancel you, but you're about to cancel them because you can't pay...

3) for people who cannot afford healthcare from a private source, you will be able to join the Federal BCBS program (if BCBS is who they still use)...

---------------------------

from what I understand these are the 3 main (if only points) to the new health care bill.. it was only to get a start on things instead of bickering over the smaller details without anything passing...

the 2nd bill (which I don't know the status of), should be more detailed, and if anyone thinks we are accomplishing ANYTHING with this thing, only a 2nd bill will really mean poo.. the 1st one doesn't mean poo..

---------------------------

also, I'm not sure how quick these bills will go into effect.. I heard not right away...

oh, and NONE OF THIS HELPS PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES EITHER.. lol..

    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
