World Cup gathering in Charlotte

For those who want/care/can. June 12 is a Sat. Right now the plan is Hooligans in the Latta Arcade uptown. The US v Eng match starts at 2.

I suggest getting there about 3hrs or earlier before. Word of caution to the casual fan. If you wear something US related, expect major heckling from the Brits. Be prepared to be amazed at the audacity of the 3 Lions fans and how they will dance to just about anything. Be amazed the sheer scope of alcohol consumed. Be amazed at the sheer need for dental work as well.

If you are in, let me know so I can keep coordinating with some other folks. Right now we are close to 20.

Even if you hate the sport, come on down and party and learn about the beautiful game and have a blast.

There is one Huddler who has interwebz immunity for being IN a wedding and not GOING to one. You know who you are.

I can't wait and I look forward to a month long celebration of the beautiful game and tons of chatter on the Huddle. :D

Can't afford to go down there, though I wish I could.

I can, however, do the bold part.

a few questions...whats the TV situation like there? Checking out the website, the place looks very small (understandably), so id hate to go for the game and not be able to see poo.

What about food?

The owner told me they are bringing tv's out in the courtyard. Im going tomorow during lunch or so and scope it out some more.

Foodwise it's a pub but I will double check on that.

Husker is IN a wedding. And I have to show some restraint and not send him any updates of the match.

I will post some more details tomorrow.

They say they are serving breakfast and lunch. Match is at 2. I will talk to the both the owners of French Qrtr and Brevard Court. I know those guys and see if they will be open. I think I can talk Danny into being open that day.

    • I think the last time I watched the Pro Bowl was that year Sean Taylor blew up that poor punter. LOL
    • I don’t go back and look at the espn but there live it definitely said 1 shot 1 goal when it happened. I guess they had not added them yet. Still allowing goals that early is rough. Blue line is a total disaster still. Even with Slavin back. Miller and Nikishin keep making mistakes after mistakes.
    • I generally disagree with the concept of picking a position because of value early in the draft. For instance, if there's a really good safety, RB or ILB at pick 10, I'm choosing him over a project WR or DE. Better players make the team better. A bunch of ok players will give you an ok team. The number 1 goal of the draft should be to improve the overall talent on the team. Not to fill positions of need.  Deciding beforehand that you're picking a LT in the first or second round because Ickey went down is not the way to improve the team. Now if Dan has similar grades on 2 or 3 players and one happens to be a LT, then yeah go for it. But don't pass on your guy at ILB because you have a gap at LT or need to improve the pass rush with a DE. When those guys don't pan out then you haven't improved your team. But that LB could have been a franchise cornerstone for years to come. See Luke Kuechly and Christian McCaffrey.
