need to junk my car

Recommended Posts

So I have this car that I just need to sell off to a salvage yard or something. I've gotten a couple quotes that are ok for a couple hundred dollars.

I'm just curious if anyone here has junked anything in Charlotte, and if there are any of these yards I should avoid or one that pays better? I've called several and I'm probably not missing anything, but if anyone knows of anything to avoid like the plague or something, I'd appreciate a heads up.

Car still runs and everything, it's just a cheap ass car that was in a fender bender and is now not worth fixing.

2000 mazda protege, bout 115k miles. the paint's in great condition and all, starts and drives fine. hit some lady going like 25-30 and the front basically exploded lol. I mean, the hood's bashed in a bit, and i bent the radiator, so it leaks coolant. Also, knocked a hole in whatever does the AC.. all my juice ran out.

The fronts bent up, so I mean... the damage was more than the car's worth. Thinking about the kidney foundation, tbh. Best offer I have had is ~300

If my memory serves me right (donated last year) the smallest tax deduction you can get is $600. Which is what I got for my 1992 accord that no longer ran.

Newer mazda might get more, but you won't know until they send you your receipt.

You ought to get with someone from one of those causes, and setup a car-bashing thing to raise money... Charge people to pick up some sort of implement like a sledge hammer or a baseball bat to take a few whacks at it to let off some steam...

Once you are finished, sell the car to a scrap metal place and give that money to the charity too...

    • I could be waaaaaaay off about Kon. I do fault myself into, to borrow a NFL phrase heavily "RAS" nerd on players, too much. There are PLENTY of athletic freak shows that are playing overseas(or Amazon delivery) cause they never figured out NBA ball. I can easily miss seeing the talent. Plus did he only have 2 dunks on the season??(is that for real??) I didn't watch over a few hours of duke, but not one point did I think "That Kon guy is a top 4 pick in the upcoming draft". IMO I still foresee Ball bringing the ball up, doing his weak isolation game and never even looking for Kon. That's his best trait according to everyone, shooting right? I do not see ball, bridges, miller or even williams making the extra pass to Kon for him to shoot a 3.  Then defense-wise, Im not ready to type the amount of questions I foresee in his ability for guarding NBA SGs or bench SFs for that matter. Not that NBA players care to defend, but still..... I just feel he's a bad fit for the current hornets, trades are taking place tho... Liam to me is a decent comp for Kon and he fell some, but was a 29 overall pick. Still around 13-21 was the good solid range for Liam and I thought the same for Kon. This is just a classic case of I need to see it. It add to this, Kon is like garlic. Ball is like sugar and Miller is like flour. Mix it together and chef Lee is not going to get me to eat that dish..... Honestly I don't know why Im this vocal about Kon. In past years I would be patience and not post and see what the kid has. The other side, insert classic white boy terms here- _____, ______, _______< etc >. Hornets do desperately need them. His crafty back door cuts, his willingness to stay a extra 2 hours to refine lees plays, keep playing with bruised limbs. I heard from many reports he's mentally tough and hornets by all gods need that. God they are such pussys.  I hope Im wrong and if so, I will give Kon his just props.
