If we knew for a fact we were gonna have a legit defense I would say do it for one year. Defense has too many question marks and the potential to be sub par to think we could try to win it all this year though. Owens has calmed down and all we need is some legit #2 play and this offense will be beastly....and he could do that. Did it in Buffalo with his mouth shut.

if a team is a #2 WR away from a Superbowl squad Owens makes sense. If not, teams should stay away.

I used to hate T.O. and the thought of him being here would piss me off. Now, not so much. His skills along with attitude have both decreased. Couldn't care either way. Wouldnt be bad to rent for one season

I would not want T.O here simply because I would not want him to take up a roster spot.

On the other hand, another veteran WR could be nice, especially if he would take the time to mentor some of our up and coming talent.

But we would not have that up and coming talent on the roster if we bring in veterans. What a lovely catch 22.

On a side note, I still see us bringing in another DT befor the season begins. Might not be big name, but we love pulling in players other teams discard. With the talent that was at DT and CB in the draft, could be some value out there after teams cut to 53.

I feel the same way but from looking at the Panthers moves lately such a thing would be a luxury. Steve Smith will have to be that guy. He has already stated that he'd be up to the challenge.

I don't really see the harm in it. He knows he's not a #1 receiver anymore so that should settle the dispute with Smitty. Also he seems much more mature than in earlier years. The Panthers are betting all their cards on Jarrett and Armanti to step up, why not have a little insurance and bring in a proven vet?
