My monday story....

So I employ drivers who have to take random DOT drug tests.

about a month ago my best driver came up for a random. I tell him it's time to go pee in the cup but then my corporate office say "Wait! We're switching labs."

Ok, no problem. Last week, I get the new forms and info and call him again. He goes after his shift friday and all is well, or so I thought.

Turns out he "altered" his sample, now I have to fire him.

Not only am I losing my BEST driver but he's a really good guy who has 2 young kids and jobs are scarce.

This afternoon is gonna be fun!

also, I know he's reaping what he sowed etc, blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda. Bottom line is a really good guy/employee is losing his job cuz he made a bad choice, that's always hard.

So that's why the huddle hasn't been graced with my presence this morning and I'll be in and out a lot ........(wait for it...)

Also I spent the weekend at the beach having wild monkey sex, so I have that to fall back on

The guy knew he was getting pinched and didn't get clean? Not too bright. And Skew I think it's more about trying to cheat the test, not that he got caught from what he is saying...

THis is what frustrates me the most, I told him a MONTH before he actually went. Could have been avoided.

Ultimately he's made his bed etc.

guy was top notch though

Want some irony?

My company is VERY liberal about drug/alcohol use. They don't test. It's not even brought up. In fact, we drink wine/beer/liquor at company social events including AT the company's main HQ. I'm pretty sure one of our senior managers comes in stoned every day.

But due to some nagging health issues, I can't do poo. I've been as clean as a white sheet for several years. Too ironic.

    • To all the analysts who said "Caps in 5", thank you for telling us their departure time.
    • We won't know the answer to this for a long time. Reality is, Caleb has been the consensus #1 in that draft for years. Bryce was a similar situation, but mostly the same. He was not the clear and obvious #1 that Caleb was, but most teams had Bryce at QB1. The Panthers were always going to be terrible Bryce's rookie year.  I don't think DJ Moore's presence would have changed anything about that offense, as our guards, center, and left tackle were getting demolished on nearly every snap. It's clear Caleb's dad was trying to do everything possible to ensure Caleb didn't end up in Chicago with Eberflus. It's hard to imagine that he wouldn't have done the same, but probably more publicly with our situation, considering Carolina is an easier target for the media than Chicago. We can all speculate, but it's impossible to tell who is going to have the better career on May 16, 2025. If either QB doesn't pan out, we have an easy answer. If both flame out, the bears clearly won the trade, but it wouldn't have really mattered anyway. We all know how we win the trade. Candidly, even if one of the other picks we gave up ends up being a hall of fame player, we don't know if the panthers would have taken that player anyway. All you can do is make the best decision you can in the moment with the information you have. I really like Bryce Young, and I'm glad he's a Carolina Panther.  The only way to win in the modern NFL is to have an absolute dude at QB. I personally am happy that our franchise recognizes this, as I remember times when they did not.
