Thinking About Joining A Martial Arts Academy

Im not interested in competing. I want a hobby that helps with physical fitness and self defense. I have found a place right near my house that offers this sort of thing. Its a place offering hap ki do...here is the website..let me know what u think...http://www.choeshapkido.com/

Looks good, they certainly have the right idea. 360 defense is the foundation of a good self defense. But find out if by "weapon," they mean "gun" or "sword."

It's a minor thing, but to me, I am kind of bothered by some aspects of the Eastern Martial Arts. Things like the bowing, talk about "spirit," the uniforms, the ceremony of it all. Meh. I'd much rather go to a class where the instructor teaches us to throw a knee into someone's teeth and then exclaims "Chiclets!" Again, that's a really, really minor thing. It's just a personal preference.
