Went to Brixxx last night for dinner, and had Mother Earth "Dark Cloud". A great dunkel style out of Kinston, NC. I always favor beers from the home state when deciding over what new beer I want to try.

Its really dark, a little sweet, smooth and malty. Highly recommended.

Had a great time at the barrel-aged tasting yesterday, and we didn't even get to my beers.

Someone brought a Goose Island Rare Bourbon County Brand Stout, which was my favorite of the night. It's probably not worth the $50 asking price, but it was damn good and I'm grateful for the chance to try it.

Almost as good was the '10 Founders KBS, and then right behind it was this year's KBS. We had a Green Flash Silva Stout that was delicious, and some good homebrews as well. We also had Port Brewing's Santa's Little Helper, which was good if a bit hot.

went back to Pizza Peel last night. Complained to the waitress about the 8oz pours. She said it was a common complaint and they are "working on a solution". She said they did it because of the high alcohol content, which makes no sense because they actually have Yeti (9%+) as a full pour although its one of the few higher alcohol beers that are regular glasses.

I told her i wouldnt order an 8oz glass. Especially at the same price.

I had the yeti obviously. :D

So, what's everyone been drinking?

We had some friends over a couple nights ago. He brought over New Belgium's Trippel. While not a new beer, it is new to North Carolina. It's a good Tripel if you're a fan of the style.

Then my buddy and I split a Founders KBS and a Tyranena Benji's Chipotle Smoked Imperial Porter. Both awesome, though I wish the latter had more heat. I've tried several chile beers and am always disappointed with the heat level. I need to start brewing!
