Comparing our new players to old, better/worse?

Recommended Posts

So I asked Chris Harris on Twitter (ChrisHarrisNFL) who would take which safety positions here in Carolina. Here's his reply:

I know it doesn't mean anything, but I just thought you might like to hear his opinion.

I think he is right on here. Doesn't hurt that he is saying the same thing I am. :D

There's no way Bernadeau is better than Vincent. Some pundits were touting Vincent for a Pro Bowl last year. And how can you say any rookies are improvements? They haven't even put pads on yet...

Those pundits were wrong. Vincent was the weakest link on the O-line last year, from what I saw. Also, Bernadeau played well when he had to start at LG last year, so at worst, it's a push.

BTW, better QB play will is what really matters with this team. If Matt Moore can keep up the momentum he built in those last five games, everybody will look better.

It just confirms what I have said all along. Harris knows how each of them play and what it takes to be a SS and thinks Godfrey has the better skill set. We will see once the season starts.

It wasnt clear to me whether Harris was responding on "Who will slide to SS?" or "Who should slide to SS" though.

Munnerlynn and Moore have looked very shaky on punt returns. The reports from minicamp are that Edwards has looked great. Seeing as how Moore hasn't done all that much it's not that hard to be an improvement.

Jarrett has barely done anything in his time here. He's even been deactivated a few times. Isn't really that physical or a great run blocker. LaFell is heralded for his run blocking. Since we love to run so much LaFell already has an advantage.

Playing in pads is differnet of course but I'm willing to bet that Edwards can catch punts and catch 1-2 balls a game at slot reciever which is all he has to do be better.

Pretty much all LaFell has to do to be better than Jarrett is to just be activated lol.

Also I think any of the 3 guys we have will do just as good or better than vincent.
