Edwards signs

This link should help put things in perspective. Edwards was scouted hard by Hurney and Fox. Personal workout, etc. His upside is tremendous. Does not guarantee success, but I watched him at the OTAs, and the kid is an athlete with good hands. I still think we could have waited to get him, but that would mean we would not have Norwood. To me, Norwood was a strange pick.

Notice what we are doing. We are getting players that fit a mold. That is why we went after Everette Brown last season (Freeney mold), traded Harris to accomodate faster safeties with more range, and took a tweener like Norwood. These are the guys Meeks likes. Now Davidson is getting his offense in gear, with more weapons in the passing game.

There is also a strong focus on special teams, with a new coordinator and Wright, Hudson, and Francisco being our key free agents. Edwards is expected to give us pop in the passing game and return punts, possibly kickoffs.

I compare drafting Edwards to when we took a punt returner out of Utah in the third round 10 years ago. I hated the pick.

I'm mystified by the 4-year multi-million dollar deal. He's has zero minutes pro game time, was a 3rd round draft pick, is transitioning to a position he hasn't played in years...

Were not even into training camp yet. How can they know he's worth this?

His bonus and overall terms were in line with the picks just before and after him...

    • Another thread where the Huddle melts down over a Bryce comment.  "Conversations" and "Bryce Young has been signed to a new long-term contract" are still far away from being the gospel.  For a fanbase that has watched two top-3 drafted QBs come here, and us move on, only to see them elevate their play elsewhere, I find it comical. Bryce is flawed but this org is damned if you do and damned if you don't with BY9.  Why would our GM and HC say anything other than supportive about their QB1. Yes, he's extended, but I truly do not think if he goes out and has a repeat of the previous seasons, that he is here beyond 2027. They're giving him every opportunity and surrounding him with a ridiculous amount of assets on both sides of the ball. If he continues to pitch 110 yd/ game and cough up the ball while everyone else is busting their ass, no way Dan keeps him beyond the extension.
    • Ooof, I was not a Proctor fan. I agree w/ a lot of smarter folks than me that he's more of a guard and think his weight fluctuation is going to be something to navigate. I liked Lomu a lot, but figured there would be more talented guys there at 19. I also wasn't big on bringing in a TE via the draft. If it's not a vet (Njoku) or a trade for Mayer or Kmet, I'd just as soon see what the youngsters have. No need cluttering the room with more of the same.
    • Sam Darnold & Bryce Young are two very different Qbs ..just saying the last 25 years approximately 2/3 of ALL  first round Qb's  in the NFL were or are bust.so for everyone who makes it like a Sam Darnold you have two that don't make it or are a bust
