Supplemental Draft

best player in the sup.draft wasnt even drafted? Jeremiah Masoli. he'd be a hell of a RB. too small to be a QB in the NFL.I think he is 5'11, 190 lbs...about like Pat White

Masoli debated going into the supplemental draft, but decided against it.

forgive my newbishness on the subject.. how does the supplemental draft work?

All teams are available to place bids (rounds 1 through 7) on players in the supplemental (usually guys that end up leaving school with eligibility remaining for whatever reason). Whoever places the highest bid on a player gets that player, but loses the corresponding pick in next year's draft. So the Bears and Cowboys lose their 7th rounders in the 11 draft, for selecting Unga and Brent, since they both placed 7th round bids.

are we talking like sidney rice kind of .. like epic time left sophmores ... 5th 6th year seniors .. or just people who decide after the initial draft that they would rather try the nfl than stay another year?

No most guys usually have some other issue. Unga was kicked out of BYU for honor code violations. I think grades were the issue with Brent, although I think he had some scrapes with the law in Champaign. Jeremy Jarmon (who was picked by the Redskins last year) was facing a suspension for a banned substance.

    • Nobody on the huddle is saying we have an elite group offensively across the board. They aren't great. They're young. If you are expecting someone to agree with your position of blaming everyone around Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career you are going to be left holding the bag save for a handful of people who act like they are paid to defend his honor. Bryce Young is not a guy who has had to claw and fight his way into starting jobs in football. He's had the best to work with and been gifted roles since he was a teenager. The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league and with us needing an infusion of young defensive talent in the upcoming draft we're only going to get younger. We need a QB who possesses the ability to elevate those around him. If you can't agree with me on that then there's nothing further to discuss.
    • All Bryce and the Panthers had to do was split with the Saints and a rookie QB. The bar was so low. They even had a whole bye week to prepare. The time for singing kumbaya was before that game. Anyone still talking about Bryce earning a second contract 43 games into his career is living a fantasy. He might get one from the Tepper owned Panthers but he's damn sure not earned it.
