Carolina Panthers Close to Signing Terrell Owens????

What about a player assaulting not one teammate, but two? That just an off the field issue too?

Those kinds of things happen. Players get in fights on the field. Happens from High School football all the way up. And while Steve Smith has had his problems in situations like that, I can't remember him ever criticising his QB, or coaching decisions etc... In the heat of the moment, a lot of things happen, but when something is said in a press conference after the game is over and the player has had time to think about it, its something that is going to attract unwanted attention.

And fwiw, the worse thing about Owens coming here would not be Owens himself, but the media focus that came with it. Everything Owens did would be analayzed over and over again on the national media. Even when he didn't do anything wrong, he would still do something wrong.

Hey he may have had legitimate gripes with his team mates, but of course the media is always right because fans are as fickle as they look. He was upset because he wanted the ball and he wanted to win. You didn't here anything from T.O. in 06 when the Eagles went to the Super Bowl. The guy wants to win and he wants to be involved. I guess none of you played a sport before. You were the one's in the stands at your high school and college football games. Well news flash any real athlete wants the ball in their hands.

If your still concerned with his problems from three years ago then you are probably "Gay". As a football player I will take T.O. and you can have Charly Martin and I guarantee you that I will win every time.

T.O. caused no problems in Buffalo and that was without a fugging quarterback that could actually play. He realizes that his time is drawing near and he may not have the much time left in the league but everytime he steps out on the field he plays his game.

Calling people gay? What are you, 12 years old? Nevermind, thought I was having a discussion with an adult.

I agree. A lot of stuff happens in football, including fuming with teammates.

you are also dead on about the media.

You and I agreeing? I think hell did just freeze over, or it must be getting close to football season. :)

It's been a long offseason. Spartanburg is in the air! :D

I make decision's on the athlete not the person, if I didn't then I would say hey lets trade Steve Smith to the Browns for Jake Delhomme because Jake is a nicer guy and has less off the field issues....but I look at talent, production, then the person when it comes to sports.

If you think that T.O. is not a good football player than you need to go somewhere else, if you think T.O. can not produce, than you need to go somewhere with the other guy, and if you are going to tell a Hall Of Famer that he can not be on your team because he disagreed with his quarterback then you have never played a sport in your life.

Grow Up, except the fact that T.O. would make this team better and just admit you are saying no because you are pretending you are Jerry Richardson not because you actually think he would be a cancer to our team I mean give me a break. If Michael Vick is not a cancer than no one is.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
