Will Junior ever do it?

Agreed. Last week the 48, 24, 5, and even Brad Keselowski all had top 10 cars, all day long. And the 88 was trash yet again that Tony was unable to make better as the race went on. Again.

I mean granted, Junior may not be a top 5 nascar driver but he isnt this bad.

Try this on for size, in all of this year he has yet to be able to qualify the 88 in the top 10. Thats not on E as he has been a decent qualifier over his career, thats a car issue, and that falls squarely in Eury.

There is just no reason for that car to be that bad on a consistent basis with all the resources available to them at Hendrick. Its gotten the point that I know he wont run well unless Tony hits on a good setup by pure luck and watch the race just to see how Tony screws it up then with the hope Jr will actually win.

Just to add to this, here is where the Hendrick cars qualified this week at lowes.

Gorden third

Martin fourth

Johnson fifth

Jr 27th

When all the rest of the cars at Hendrick can qualify in the top 5 but one team cant even make the top 25 if might say something about the crew chief, just maybe.

I think he will.

He's 34 and the life of a driver (who will never lose his ride) is up to 50 these days.

You have to ask yourself is he a good driver or not. (And does being a good driver matter in Nascar - whole 'nother thread). I think he is a great driver. Maybe one of the best restrictor plate. And I think hendrick would benefit from him winning a championship. Big time. More than Johnson again for sure. He wants to win, hendrick wants him to win.

Maybe Martin this year though ;)

The only thing about hendrick...do those drivers actually interact much?

I know I'm resurrecting old threads, but I haven't been able to get in here as much! :)

Yes, the drivers interact. Jeff and Jimmie are actually pretty good friends, but with new baby, Jeff is not as available (is anyone after new baby?). Not sure about Jimmie and Lil E, but Lil E and Rick go way back, and he and Jeff have always been friendly. And what can one say about Mark Martin? He is friends with everyone. Always has been. Class act.

    • Yeah, if you tune in for any of the remainder of the season you will get what you're asking for. Nobody but yourself to blame. This is a sports franchise of losers, for losers.
    • Here is my take, go ahead and roast me, I'm ok with it, I know where I am. I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet. I will wait until week 4 or 5 before I entertain that option. This game I blame on the coaching staff. Their failure to give reps to the first team during the preseason was reflected in this game. Lets just call this what it is... our preseason warm up game. You could see that the whole team was flat in the first half. Every aspect of the game, the basic fundamentals. Mental errors, missed tackles, timing on routes, they were not ready for this game. Jacksonville is not a great team but you could clearly see their energy level surpassed ours. I do have to give credit to our defense. They did hang in there and kept competing through 4 quarters (minus the 71 yard run). The way our offense played it's a wonder Jacksonville didn't put 40 on us. Positives I saw, (I know, I know), but come on, we still have 16 games. TMAC IS that guy!! Chuba looked good, and overall, our O-line looked good. As bad as Bryce looked at times I do feel like we're a step or two away from connecting with our WR corps. There were plays to be made that were JUST off by a step or two (again, I know). We have talent at WR, we have talent on offense. To me, this game just looked like a team that was not mentally prepared for NFL week one, and less, "oh my god, we're the same old Panthers". Now I get it... a lot of this hinges on Bryce Young and his confidence. If he can erase this and focus on building continuity with these receivers I honestly think we're not going to suck as bad as we did today. XL... IDK, the jury with him is still out, but there is no doubt the kid has mega potential. Our defense, honestly, considering we have a bunch of new guys on that side, they held their own considering the offense could never change the momentum of the game. I am as disappointed as everyone else at another week one poor performance. But I also realize we are STILL rebuilding. Lets just take it week by week right now and see if we have ANY talent that rises to the surface. Because I really do not know what we have talent wise. And that is not just limited to the QB. So, we will see, but I'm not going to call it just yet... just my take. Now fire away! lol
    • Well for one, what other realistic choice is there? Barring a season ending injury, Bryce is the guy for this year. Next year all options are open, but there aren't any other real world solutions for the 2025 season.
