Let's talk about the good stuff...

With all the talk about Dwayne Jarrett's ability to make himself the most hated Panther in two days of camp I feel like we are missing some other story lines that are a little bit more on the positive side of things.

1) I've read several articles/tweets about how Ed Johnson is actually holding up quite nicely and that he looks like the Ed Johnson that started 16 games for the Colts back in 2007. We are good at finding talent in weird areas and he might be the next example...the best part is that he is still young. Also at the DT spot I've heard a few good things about Tank Tyler as well. With Leonard on the sidelines its nice to see these guys playing well.

2) Obviously the talk of camp as far as sleepers go centers around Greg Hardy and the fact that he may have been the biggest steal since finding Smitty in the third round so many years ago. IF Hardy can stay healthy (and if we keep saying that it may keep ourselves from any jinx) he could push for starting time or at the very least be in the rotation.

3) As much as I was worried about Lafell coming into camp he actually seems to be having a good couple practices. Let's face it...this guy is going to drop some balls but he will also make some explosive plays as well and he is an excellent blocker. Moose let a few go through his hands at times too.

Anything I'm missing, or any other observations are welcome...just make it good stuff.

I also wanted to add Dan Connor...how many teams could shift their pro bowl starting MLB to WLB and then bring in another guy who doesn't miss a beat. I have heard that Connor has looked good and should be a quality starter...our linebacker situation is seeming better and better each day.

Cant say enough about Wallace Wright either. That kids got some hands and some speed.

Didnt drop a ball all practice.

Tank Tyler seems like he is gonna do alright in the middle.

Mike Goodson has been awesome so far.

There is alot to be excited about. One thing for sure our team will be FAST.

Forgot about Wright too...I think we all assumed he would make the team as a special teams ace but it looks like he might be able to contribute in the passing game as well...or at the very least he could hold his own if we needed him in a pinch. I like it.

How about we become the first team in history to

boast two 1k RB's and a 1k WR on the same season? We were 17 yards short last season with Delhommes poor play and Smith missing the last game.

How about two 1k RB's and a 2k WR on the same season and Smitty goes to the HOF?

I think everyone is worried too much about our Rookies right now. I think when Edwards and LeFell start to learn the playbook watch out.... I think bad hands can be fixed also cause when Moose came to the NFL he had a butter fingers as well. Im still optimistic at this point.

Two starting safeties who are very fast and athletic - both have good ball skills and with the league becoming even more pass happy that can't be a bad thing.

Should also have a lot of young quality depth at most positions,

I hated to see Harris go. Loved his leadership and he could hit, but he was a liability in coverage. Godfrey can be a hitter, we all remember what he did to Wes Welker last year.(Here's the link:

Both guys are athletes. I think they will be good together.

I will add one thing. Remember how everybody was saying that Sherrod Martin sucked last year in the pre season? Some people swore that he was a wasted pick who couldn't cover or tackle, but look at him now. The same thing happened with Jonathan Stewart too. Some fans were already calling him a bust after his first pre season game.

We should all remember this when guys like Lafell and Edwards have a rough day of practice or don't have a great pre season game. Sometimes it takes a minute or two, especially when a guy is learning a new position, or even several new positions, like Edwards is. Don't rush to judgement, folks.
